Stripping oils from hair?

General Questions

For the past few months I´ve been an avid user of oils in my hair, such as tea tree, jojoba, coconut and argan.
I certainly enjoy the use of these oils, but I have to acknowledge that whenever I soak my hair in them for a couple of hours, I am forced to use a commercial shampoo product to get the thick oil coating off my hair again. For this reason, I was wondering if there was some natural product that could help me out?

I was wondering if something like apple cider vinegar would do the trick, but I have not attempted it, because I´d rather not have to wash my hair twice just to test if it works. :)

Thanks in advance.

Split hairs?

General Questions

My hair definitely improved a small bit after trying out the 1 hour of coconut oil/avocado/egg hair mask yesterday. It´s hard to visually tell, but I can definitely feel that the texture is slightly better.

Perhaps doing this with some degree of frequency would help bring this back on track.

Split hairs?

panterra made a suggestion for me mix coconut oil  mashed avacado, and maybe some aloe  or jojoba   make a hair mask coat the hair, leave it in and covered with a plastic bag 24 hours then wash it out

I´ll make sure to buy an avocado tomorrow as well then. :) I probably can´t leave it in for 24 hours, but I´ll go for 2 hours tomorrow and maybe overnight in the weekend or something.

Split hairs?

General Questions

☮ soaring eagle ॐ:
well healthy hairs healthier for sure but  dry damaged hair tends to dread faster it wont be detrimental to the locking procews or overly detrimental to the hairs health  the dryness and brittleness maybe an ongoing concern though

I must admit that for the past 2 months while I´ve been waiting for my hair to grow out to a decent length, I´ve been using commercial hair treatment, conditioner and shampoo. Despite this, my hair remains as dry as ever. Naturally, the chemical coating gives it the illusion that it´s a tiny bit more moisturized, but it really remains the same. I´ve also been using coconut oil and jojoba oil to a great degree, but with no remarkable results either. I´m wondering if perhaps what my hair could be lacking is proteins? If this is the case, I assume making some kind of egg mask with oils would prove to be beneficial to some degree? I might try this tomorrow.

It is, however, very revealing of the commercial hair products, since they don´t live up to their promises whatsoever. I´ve recently changed my diet to be mostly vegan, but it will take a long time before my hair is long enough to see if this change has made a noticable impact overall. I´m really wondering why my hair insists on being in such a terrible condition at all times, haha. It baffles me.

Split hairs?

General Questions

Hello Dreadies. :)

Previously I have made a topic regarding my dry and brittle hair, but now I am wondering about whether or not split hairs will have an influence on the hair´s ability to start forming dreadlocks and tightening them as well?

A girl with dreads that I happen to know, told me that it would probably dread better if my hair wasn´t so damaged, but the way I see it, wouldn´t the large amount of frizz just aid in the locking process?
Maybe I´m mistaken, but I´d like some clarification. :)

Thanks.

Super dry and brittle hair

General Questions

it doesnt look bad but  tyhen again  youd feel dryness more then see it assumming you never bleached it  you could do a hot oil treatment, your going to lose any lil progress you made though, dry hairs going to dread alot faster but if its so dry that breakage might be an issue then a deep penetrating treatment to make it healthy  will heklp, but will reverse any progress are you sure its as dry as you think and its not just that your not used to not conditioning?

At this point I really have no progress towards forming dreadlocks.
The reason I'm posing this idea of dryness is because the hair on the back of my scalp seems to be much thicker and healthier compared to the hair at the front.
I'm not sure what a hot oil treatment is, but I guess i'll have to look into it.

Hair length?

General Talk

Hello everyone. :)

I've been growing my hair for a while, in hopes that it'll be long enough to dreadlock soon. My plans will be to most probably utilize the twist&rip method to form them, but I was wondering if my hair was long enough to start this process yet? Here are some pictures:

Super dry and brittle hair

General Questions

Alright, I will buy it as soon as I get the money.
Is it possible for you to inform me on how to wash my hair with a bar? Do I just scrub it all over my head?
