loctician dread disaster (yet again)

Dreading Methods

it can be helpful as it can add some texture to straight hair and help it get knotty, but it can cause scalp irritation so you only want it hitting your dreads if possible. i add in 3 tbsp of sea salt to my bs when i wash and that way it does it's thing then gets rinsed out. just make sure you use sea salt and not table salt

I really do appreciate it guys, and they already are looking and feeling much much better. Attached is a pic. I will continue to keep em up in my wool hat and just make sure they dont jump into eachother. I was hearing salt water sprayed in helps too?

loctician dread disaster (yet again)

Dreading Methods

i've never heard of tying them back to keep the roots tight, and i would think it'd be opposite, tying them back would put strain on the roots, and would cause them to grow out into straight hair instead of dreading as it grows out

this is what its like out of the ponytail, so whats the advice?

also, you dont think tieing them up for a little to strengthen the roots is a good idea? your the master so i wont dispute, ive just had a few of my jamaican friends insisting

loctician dread disaster (yet again)

Dreading Methods

that's, just weird. all these loctitions seem silly, and they usually don't do anything but steal your money and keep you coming back to make deposits.they look thin, but pulled back it's hard to tell, and wearing your hair pulled back all the time can create weak spots in the dreads that can cause them to break so it's odd they would tell you that, that on top how thin they made them, sounds like they want you to be worried so you keep coming back and giving them your money. and if they are braided together then tied up and rubberbanded, the hair can't move and the movement is what creates knots, also, the rubberbands will cause hairs to break so you may want to get those out sooner than later.if your hair was backcombed you should be fine if you take them out of the pony tail, unbraid them and remove the rubber bands; the ends may unravel some but let them do their thing and they'll knot up. with it being 5 days in it wouldn't be to much to comb out and redo them but if you would rather not there are ways to combine them as well, or you can just not separate them and let them congo over time.

I know its not about dreads but HELP!

General Questions

they's a neat little metaphysics shop near me that sells all sorts of wonderful things such as books about angels, demons, and hauntings, they have sage sticks with instructions on how to use them, i would advice seeking out a store like thatshops like that are a bit of treasure if your into that sort of thing, lots of tarot cards and dream interpretation books, we got these stones that are suppose to bring certain types of energy's into your life as well and it's been interesting.

wrapping dreads while sleeping

Dread Maintenance

after you backcomb and your dreads are sticking out tams are great to get them to lay down some, and yeah, if you use wax it'll help keep it off everything else.

otherwise, sometimes i just like to sleep with a hat on because it's soft and i like it lol; sometimes it seems like they're less fuzzy though, but that could just be aplacebo effect. also nice if you have one sticking out and you'd like to try and calm it down some, i usually don't tuck mine in, just pull it over so it lays'em down some

dish soap on dreads?

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

the basic bs wash is 1/2 to 3/4 cup of baking soda to 1 gallon of warm water, make sure all the clumps are broken up and the bs is fully dissolved then pour over your head, let it soak for a minute or 10 and rinse well.i don't do all the oils and and have not felt the need for acv as my hair is normally pretty oily but i do add 3 tbsp of sea salt to the bs, nothing extra to do, just make sure it dissolves

Flat dreads?

Dread Maintenance

palm rolling doesn't do anything but press the loose hairs down and makes your hair look less ratty. i think it can actually be damaging if done to aggressively and i would imagine if you rolled over bumps it would pull hairs from the forming knots loosening it up instead.
