I need your advice!

Introduce Yourself

I have a pewter bead stuck in a dread. The hair shrunk tight and fat around it. You can see it. It is just that the hair dreaded above and below so the bead does not move. So yes it is possible. If it worries you then take the bead out every few days or move it along the length of the dread.

Question of TnR, dreads look like braids....

Dreading Methods

You are fine. Remember that TnR is just a starter method and not really dreads yet. It does look "braidy" at first. What is going to happen is that it will loosen up and then actual knots start to form. It is good that you realized that some were too big because they do thicken up a whole lot.

Dread Maintenance

I would not put coconut oil in your hair. I use it on my skin i LOVE it! I rubs off a tiny bit onto my dreads but it is too heavy to actually apply to your dreads. I actually have gotten a sore spot/bump or two from wearing my hair back too tight. What I do now is I wrap a band around my head after I pull it up. It takes pressure off and distributes the weight a bit. Try putting a bit of tea tree oil on the bumps with a q-tip.

or it could be blocked pores. Does your scalp get any stimulation? Maybe rub the scalp to get more circulation and blood flow.

Lice would be my first guess. Allergies my second. Try a different residue free shampoo like kiss my face's everyday shampoo. Do you wear your hair up a lot? There could be stress on your roots/scalp maybe?

Need help with 2 month old dreads please

Help! Save My Dreads

mix the baking soda in boiling water but you need to let it cool down before you use it. After it is dissolved you can even put it in the fridge to cool it down more.

For the first year or so I had the white scalp mud. It had nothing to do whatsoever with baking soda. It was a combination of dead skin cells and naturally occurring oil when water and soap mix with it. It turns into a creamy gross nasty gunk. My solution was to gently scratch my scalp with my nails before I washed. And again while washing and rinsing. Just enough to loosen the dead skin off of the scalp. After a long period of time your scalp will finally adjust to the fact that it is not being brushed or stimulated on a daily basis anymore. It took my scalp a couple of years.
