Part or no part?

Dread Maintenance

before i started dreading i always had a side parting...when i started dreading i went natural so i just let my hair do what it wanted to do and it has parted itself kind of in centre though its not perfect parting they just fall on both side of my head from center if u know what i mean lol

and i wouldnt do anything different as i just want my hair to do what it wants to do

i need some help...PAINT

Help! Save My Dreads

yea do what Lex said.....pouring thinner over ur head is not recommended but u can definitely use thinner on the cotton ball and work it out....just make sure it doesnt get onto ur scalp. other thing u can prolly use is surgical spirit (Rubbing alcohol), we also use turpentine to get the paint off our hands but maybe it not a good idea to use it on hair, as it is quite toxic. hope u sort this out soon

cheers

when I get paint in my hair I put nail polish remover on a cotton ball and just go over each spot with it and it comes right out. This wouldn't work if you had a ton of paint in your hair tho

Ancient cultural history of dreadlocks and their significance

History and Religious Significance

haha....it a problem of pronunciation nothing else "go away" would be more like jaataa than jataa and "t" is pronounced slightly differently in both the words so it can be pretty confusing i m surelol

i had read before about Shiva's followers wearing "ja Taa" i was curious and asked a man from India what ja Taa means. He looked at me blankly for a moment ( my pronunciation must have been really bad) so i wrote it down for him. He said it means "Shoo go away". In India the language is very diverse. Each village can have it's own variation of the language. so it could mean something entirely different in different parts of the country...I don't know. but i thought it was interesting.

Essence (Humanity) v.s Discrimination (Ego)

General Talk

very well said indeed Maxe....but my question is, i agree that every experience is the experience of the whole but is there any "I" that is experiencing? there seem to b no continuity as "I" in those experiences apart from those experiences itself. they seem to be a series of experiences which over period of time get accumulated in the memory and that seem to be the journey of "I" but as it is there seem to b no link between them apart from the physical body. and in physical world there is no good or bad or right or wrong....its just thought that tells itself this is good or bad or ugly or beautiful, according to its accumulated knowledge which is put there partly by our culture. there is no destruction in nature its just a reshuffling of the energy....its thought that tells us this is destruction, violence etc.

Essence (Humanity) v.s Discrimination (Ego)

General Talk

if the separation is an illusion isnt MY journey also an illusion? as separation creates ME, and everything i do is within that separation and therefore an illusion

Essence (Humanity) v.s Discrimination (Ego)

General Talk

i get what u r trying to say.....but what i m still unclear about is whose journey is it and who has to overcome the ego? if that ego is me and its exactly the same thing i m trying to get rid of ...is there any point? or can "I" get rid of it? do u see the inherent contradiction in that statement? a mind that doesnt expect anything back for its deeds takes pride in not expecting anything back and maintains itself. i am compassionate i am caring yada yada.... and if real love is absence of that me, then how can "I" love? how can i do anything? or not do anything for that matter? who is "I" anyways?

Essence (Humanity) v.s Discrimination (Ego)

General Talk

very interesting indeedi just feel thought is a real culprit here.....thought is what makes us believe we are separate...thought is always divisive and thought is always destructive. thought likes to maintain its continuity....thats all it is interested in. it does it by giving it an identity we call mind or ego. Love (in its more conventional meaning) i feel is also a product of thought....by the very assumption that we have to love (something /someone other than me) creates the division within us. There have been more killings over "love thy neighbor" than anything else. another meaning of love can be the absence of this ego.... but we are trying to get rid of that ego / mind / thought by the help of mind itself.....which will only add to its continuity. so what are we to do? sit idle? meditate? (it all seems to b born out of thought) Is there any other instrument other than thought which we can use?i don know if i have made myself clear but i would like to know wot u think....lol
