Girly opinions needed. :) Bangs/no bangs?

Dread Maintenance

hey girl!

I know you gotta pay rent but i suggest finding a place to work where you can be yourself and not worry about pleasing others. because eventually you are gunna drive yourself nuts.

Peace & love,

Mia

the opinion of others, who matter...

Introduce Yourself

To Krista- I think it's totally awesome that although you are having your doubts about dreads and their classiness on a night out you still helped him. Not that my opinion matters or is law but you are a great wife/friend/person.

To Sacho- what method did you do to start the dreading process?

I started with backcombing and i must warn you most if not all my efforts to speed the dreading process failed because my hair is as stubborn and freedom-seeking as me.

Just know that if they all come undone they will dread on their own PROMISE.

If there is anything I learned from my journey(4months) is to respect my hair and it's wishes.

Peace & love,

Mia

Yes

make your own discussion in the trade circle group page

Peace & love,

but everyone wants in so if everyone starts their own discussion, then it will clog up the main page discussions, and that is meant for dread related discussions, so sorry but we should move this to the trade circle group, : )

For those who backcombed they're dreads

Dread Maintenance

Honestly, i woudnt worry too much

my experience was that they mostly all came unbackcombed

and the i jus left em alone to naturaly dread from there.

Good LUCK

member dreading is a journey

the less you worry about it the greater the journey

Peace & love,

Mia

So would it be better to massage the soap into the scalp to keep from detangling the hair?

Mia Elizabeth said:

Hey glad you are starting or thinking of starting your journey.

I started 8/23/10 and my goal was to wait as long as i could before washing.

well as long as i could, turned out to be 3 days. LOL

i did a baking soda and apple cider vinegar wash by filling up a small bucket with water while in the shower and adding the bs and the acv :)

definitely don't run your hand through your hair because u will detangle it and dreads=tangles.

at first i would tie a plastic bag around my head so that i wouldn't get my locks wet when i showered but wasnt going to wash them.

now it doesn't really matter to me. & i wash them whenever it feels necessary. every other day or every three days.

Goodluck. Peace & Love,

Mia

need advice

I agree with Meg.

It sounds like your upset because you didn't hear what you wanted to.

I am sorry you decided to leave, because if you had stayed you would have realized

that there is TRULY little rudeness here

And you would have gained loads of knowledge.

Hope to see you back though

Peace & love,

Mia

single minded people not understanding my dreads :/

Life Issues Facing Dreads

dear lg,

i feel similarly to you. the negative comments can be really hurtful especially when i feel like " are they ever going to look like dreads?"

but i just have to remind myself. these are MY dreads. they look like dreads now because they are mine, no one elses.

Dont feel alone cause you are not by any means.

I was feeling similar to you when i created the video showcasing my dreads now(4 month old dreads-video sections)

check it out

trust when i say no one has faith in them but me and all the wonderful people here.

I have faith in your dreads as much as i do in mine!

Peace & love,

Mia
