Dread Maintenance
In general, your hair won't get 'nice and tight in a hurry'. Dreads take a lot of time and a lot of patience. If you don't like the feel of wax in your hair or think it's gross, I would suggest getting it all out and not returning to it in the future. Wax is not necessary for dreading.
7 years no combing= no dreads 1 month of intentional no combing=dreads

Maybe the guy or girl failed to mention that they detangles with their fingers? My friend hasn't combed his hair in years, but he keeps big knots at bay with his fingers. (one day he will start dreading though. I'm so excited!)

here's a one month video! i posted this on my channel awhile ago, but forgot to post it here. since this video was made, i've put in a couple of t&r sections from loose hair.
