We need a "Happy Dread-Birthday" page

Dreadlocks Journey Emotional Support

Glad I ain't the only one out there! (smirk). My official Dread Day is on July 31st. I plan to have a party!

I second that! I just had my first dread birthday on June 22 and it was a big deal for me and my family. I celebrated not only everything I learned this past year, but thepatience and committment as well. I think everyone deserves to share these special milestones with our community...great idea! :)

We need a "Happy Dread-Birthday" page

Dreadlocks Journey Emotional Support

I am approaching my 1 year birth of dreads at the end of this month (July). I am more than sure that most of you go through the "photos" page to compare dreads to your own to see how you are progressing. What I propose, we need a special page that shows people with dreads on their one year mark (and every year after) to both celebrate and share the dread process. I frequent this site daily and at times, feel this is my refuge to remind myself that my crazy hair is on the right path. Anyone second?

You are going through the exact thing I am going through. I am at 8 months almost to the day and I have lots of dreads that look like that. I can't tell you how many times I wanted to get a pair of scissors and do some "trimming" but I have fought the urge diligently. The top of my head is a perfect habitat for birds! HA! But, with friends from this site and abound, I have been assured that it is all the process and just let it be. I find wearing a tam helps with the "out of sight, out of mind" philosophy.

loose hair.

Dread Maintenance

I agree with SE with regards to giving it time. I am in my 3rd week and much of my backcombing fell out..... I have just let it be and it is doing it's own thing. Lots of lose hairs but I am seeing knots coming EVERYWHERE. Just enjoy the ride and stop looking in mirror LOL soaringeagle said:
id just let it do what it does i mean u backcombed thats pretty much what backcomb does ..fall out
but every backcombed dread that fell out still became a dread cause backcombings kinda a pointless step its not nesacary

but if u give it a while and its bugging u that its takimg too long then twist n rip but i would 2st give it tome to do what dreads do

Need a bit of guidance.

General Questions

My dreads are doing the exact same thing and it would appear that you and I are both on the same time-line. I am on day 16. Just let it be. From all the forums and advice I have received or viewed, I learned that it is just the process. You aren't alone.
