So glad to be here!

Introduce Yourself

Hey guys! My name is Libby, and I was invited by Megan to join. I have been on this site before when I first began my dreadlock journey but am just now joining up. I hope that I have some wisdom to impart to the group, I been locking for over a year now, and have done it totally natural. No wax, no nothing! They have formed nice and tight all on their own. The only thing I miss about having "normal" hair is the length...my waist length hair shrank to above my shoulders...but now it seems to be growing and getting longer so I cant wait to have knee length dreads...in a few years of course LOLIts great to meet all of you and I look forward to hanging out here in the forums with you guys very often! If anyone is on facebook befriend me! http://www.facebook.com/mayleesgarden I am a twitter addict too http://www.twitter.com/Maylees_garden

is it bad to wash dreads everyday O__o

Dread Maintenance

I agree, washing with soap wont hurt none, but I dont think I would wash every day. I feel like every 3 days is a good idea too. I hear stories about mold...scares me! LOLI found in the beginning of my dread journey that if I wash once a week like I was told to do my dreads didnt want to lock up. Once I listened to my hair and washed when it was dirty I noticed they locked up a lot faster. Greasy nasty hair just slips past each other and wont lock up. That was my experience anyways.

DIY Infused oils and teas for hair, skin and medicine :)

Dread Maintenance

You know, I got to thinking...I use olive oil in my dreadlock shampoo bars, and I also use water. I bet I could use an infused oil in place of some olive oil or a tea in place of some of the water to make a real herbal shampoo bar for itchy scalp or whatever. Now my brain is working overtime LOL The possibilities with this are limitless! Thanks so much for posting, this was so informative!
