Is there a certain length where locks become to look feminine ?

Dreading Methods

not necessarily...if you can get a loose wool tam that would be better. Of an old wool sweater over your pillow,. that'll help :)

update.....back to square one

Dread Maintenance

oh it won't be 3 years...many people see some progress in the first month and most everyone has good knotting happening by 6 months, the longer the hair the faster it dreads too, If you can get a wool tam or a wool sweater over your pillow that'll speed the process too :) Heather said:
thanks, golden eagle!

i washed my hair last night and then sprayed it with salt water and left it alone. it sectioned itself a little but no knots or tangles. i really don't think i'll be able to wait two or three years like some to see knots start to form. i'm hoping i'll see something happening in the next month or two.

you can use the baking soda soak to wash. just pour it on let it sit then rinse. then apple cider vinegar. There are recipes everywhere :)A sea salt spray would probably help you a ton. If you decide to TnR, you can spray with sea salt before and let it dry before you start. that will give your soft hair a rougher texture and make it knot more.

dreadlocks and school/

Life Issues Facing Dreads

I agree with everything that's been said...but I want to add that them not wanting you to talk to anyone is total BS...they know that they are in the wrong and if people know what they're doing, they'll have to give in. Talk to your parents if they're on your side(if not then maybe they'll support you out of love? lol) and talk to your head teacher and get their support in convincing them.Dreadlocks are not a distraction, they are not hazardous, they will not cause problems, and you should be able to have them if you want. The only explanation you have to give them is "I am going to get them because I believe I should." (which to me is deep spiritual reasons to do so)

loops and strays

Dread Maintenance

Congrats your dreads are locking completely normally :)The loops are created when the dreads tighten, they usually go away once they're mature. You only have them on 5 dreads? wait and you'll see more! I'm 4 months in and I don't have a single loop-less dread :D

new to dreads- questions about orphan hairs, ends, and maintenance- and a big thank you!

You need to use very little...u use like 7 cups of water right? I imagine in a pitcher. So after your rinse out the baking soda, fill that pitcher with water and just a 1-2 spoonfuls of acv should be enough to neutralize the baking soda but not enough to leave residue. Then rinse again with lots of water. If it doesn't work and not using acv works for you then maybe that's just what works for you :) Chewin Change said:
i know it wasnt directed towards me but ill try it again. i had unpasteurized acv maybe ill try pasteurized. acv caused greasiness for me.. theres some people here that dont use acv at all. ill give it a shot.
