I saw a patchouli & nag champa soap on Etsy recently... it's actually called "Dirty Dreaded Hippie". I am not kidding. I'm sure the seller meant it in jest, but I just hate the stereotypes... we dreadheads get them enough as it is.

Yeah, sadly it's so tightly associated with "dirty hippies" nowadays.

Haha, lucky travis. I LOVE the smell of 'chouli. Most folks over the age of 55 who have lived in California since their young years bitch and complain about patchouli. Every hippie house reeked of it back in the 70's. My sister, who is 63, says, "EW! If I smell patchouli and frying taco shells one more time in my life I'll puke!" SO many people dislike it that I refrain from using it...even tho' I like it so much.

Thank everyone here so much. I don't know what came over me but talking to everyone on the site, the praying and positive vibes, the getting advice and talking to my grandma and a couple friends I just got an inner peace and hope that goes beyond words. Seriously, thank you all. For some reason I am completely positive of the future and I see us getting back together soon and there is no stopping me right now. Spirits are high right now. I can't wait until tomorrow I get to take her to a movie. Show her I love her. Like I said to Jake, I'm still in her head so apparently it isn't over yet...and I have to fix myself before I can fix US.

You got dreads for you, not for anyone else. You're goal in getting them isn't to please others, it's to fulfill your own desire to have them for whatever reason you so chose. For one, if your ex broke up with your for your dreads, that means she wasn't with you for who you are as a person, she was with you for some other reason (possibly looks?). You should find someone who will stand by your side regardless of your appearance, because everyone gets old and wrinkly and you want someone to love you for your inner beauty.

And as far as your 'friends' judging you goes - you have to do what makes you happy so long as it doesn't cause any harm to others. Something like getting dreads does no harm to them. You have to be confident in your decisions and not worry about what others say about you. Everyone will make a judgment about you in your life, and by allowing them to oppress you in any way gives them power over you which they don't deserve. Nobody is better than anyone else, and that is why it's important to learn to live and prosper to your own satisfaction, not anyone else'. The sooner you're able to do this, the quicker you'll be able to evolve as an individual.
