Where have I been?

General Talk

First, let me apologize for my absence! Missed you all terribly (glad to have most of you on my facebook!).I've been busy working on my jewelry store, building inventory, and yes (!) I finally have my Etsy shop up and running! I'll include link at the end. Also been busy working on my book. :) I do believe it's coming along nicely. And lastly, went on a week long vacation to New Mexico..where I saw some of the most beautiful dreads! (dry heat really helped mine lock up as well!)So, that is what this pixie girl has been up to! I felt the need to explain that I did not just abandon you all, and I will be around more often from now on. :)As far as the Etsy link...still working on the shop, so look with a non- judgmental eye please! :) http://www.etsy.com/shop/HippieChickChains

1 week dreads :)

Dreading Methods

Looks good. I'm impressed that they have laid down quite nicely. Most backcombed dreads I see are sticking up all over the place. But yeah, take the rubber bands out you don't need em.I have extremely curly hair. I think our curly hair naturally dreads easier since it tangles so fast.

BEST SHAMPOO FOR DREADS?

Dread Products

I had been using Dr Bronners for several months. The thing is I found that my roots were becoming "sticky." So I switched to the Baking Soda/Apple Cider Vinegar rinse. Way happier with the results. My dreads feel cleaner and like they dry faster. Also I don't experience as much "frizz" as I was with Dr. B.

Dreads interfering with job opportunities

Life Issues Facing Dreads

I think the wig route may just look a bit off. Try a headband and pulling your dreads back in a tight ponytail. Or pull em back in a bun. It's def not the dreads hun. It's hard out there to get a job.Everyone told me its too hard to get a job when you have dreads. I talked to many company's about this. As long as hair is pulled back out of your face, dreads aren't a major point of concern. Just have to make sure you are qualified for the job. haha.

Salt Water & Vegertarian questions

General Questions

So congrats on giving veg a try. :) You won't go back. I do recommend cutting that chicken out of your diet, as well as the fish. Though you could just go pescatarian. When I first went vegan I was worried that I should keep track of what nutrients I was getting to make sure I was getting enough. Then I realized, my body will tell me. If you eat right, then your body gets this special harmony going on.It's a learning process with yourself, but you don't need to be concerned with what nutrients you need to be getting as long as you are sure to eat the main food groups. Also soy milk is amazing! Milk has so many chemicals and hormones in it, does not do a body good!
