to be fair the look of locs is subjective , not everyone is gonna see them as "damaged" or "fake"

even tho freeforming IS clean , peolpe will still view them as dirty or nasty depending on who is looking.

and..being actualy clean .. makes them a lil more rfrizzy after u wash they are lil more frizzy that sel=tles down the next day or 2

but when they are cleanb thet get a lil frizz

u can let them get dirty sticky smeklly and thety will be less frizzy

its to keep the frizzy-ness down. It gives them a "clean " apearenece.

my friend has maintained (croquet hook and twisting) for two years...and he's already starting to bald. My other friend who is African American has had his locks for 6 years and still goes to the salon, for SIX YEARS I have not seen him without something covering his scalp! hat, do rag, sweat band, you name it he's used it to hide the top of his locks...WHAT'S HE HIDING UP THERE? Well its been SIX YEARS of hiding because he over maintained and he must be balding. You don't want to hide your locks for six years, you want to show them off and set them free! Just some personal experience for a girl in the mountains...whatever you decide to do, take care~

Salons dont tell you u thwash your hair o.0. ive never been latched or seen anyone around her who was. some people like the clean parts.

Well hair my grows pretty fact so its a hassle to keep my hair cut so just stopped getting it cut.

I like the look and don't want to follow suit by getting a fade or waves. but i also like mine to look nice to a certain degree. Im pretty sure this "descease" isn't garunteed to happen

and btw im not being "trained by salons to look a certain way, I just want a neater look from my point of view.

If this was really an epidemic , maintained locs wouldn't be as common as they are. The guy in the video is the ONLY time ive seen this happening. INFACT, tho im goin to start doing my own hair, the person who does my hair has had locs for over 16 years with no signs of this happening.

I wanna try and keep the thickness i have so i can braid and style them

.I just feel with PROPER care , maintained locs can grow and prosper.

Even if i do have my locs for 20+ year( lord willin) , im sure that i won't need to go full blow free form

I just dont believe that im GURANTEED to go bald by keeping my locs maintained. Im aware of the dangers of hair loss but i honestly feel that if do lose hair, it would be due to genetics from my dad than from twisting my locs. If i notice any thining ill combine.

well i like how my hair looks when its maintained. I still doubt this is common because i have yet to meet someone it has happened to. I do plan space out twisting as my length increases. Im actually gonna try the method in this video.

as a college student i need to have a level of neatness anyway to better increase my chances of getting job in my field. I may keep them a little bit past shoulder length.

Also where are u getting these statistics?

I've had my locs for 10 months and don't see the problem of going to get them done or twisting them yourself, NOONE ive ever know with locs has had hair loss. I have african american hair btw.

I feel like as long as you dont twist too often you should be ok. I only retwist once a month.
