Welcome, and glad you're making the step after after 30 years. I'm a 50s starter too. I don't smoke, though I used to, and still believe it's good medicine for those who use it that way. I don't have any family living close by and no one around has given me any negative comment about my dreads (at least not to my face - Lol!). Often I wonder why I didn't start them years ago? But I guess things happen for unique reasons and at the right time for everybody.
Welcome, Mars! Only a few days here and you have already kicked off a stimulating discussion. We have two tortoiseshell cats. Both temperamental ladies, they don't get on but find their own spots in the house. No bunnies, but people up the road have a black rabbit. I've seen it lollop across the road (it's a quiet one-way street) to forage on the opposite verge. We'd adopt more animals if we could afford to feed them all.
Lovely pics, nice portraits of you. Timelines really show how a seeming 'mess' can evolve into beautiful dreads. But no dreads without some shrinkage, alas. Love the beads and striped headband, too.
Deleting your comment shows that they don't want the truth known, because then no one would buy their useless, harmful methods and products. Good on you for trying, anyway.
Beware - if you have light blonde hair or blonde highlights, chlorinated water might give it a greenish tint. Best always rinse your hair with clean water after swimming. Dreads love a soak, though, especially in the sea. Don't be put off going in.
Welcome! We've all been, or are going through the messy stage, so I hope you find the support you need. Your dreads look fine. Over time you'll find them a great 'litmus test' to sort those who appreciate the real you from those who want you as THEY would like you to be. Good that you're sticking to your own choices. There's also groups here for people interested in psychic development.
I'd say just keep carefully separating as your hair knots and grows, and don't worry about the messy roots. Each dread will find its place. Yours look great, as the last pic shows.
Thanks for this! What an amazing journey. Great music too.
Great progress, Angelika. There's a few real fatties already! At almost a year I have loose hairs too, they pop out everywhere.
