I appreciate what you're trying to convey here but honestly. It's political correctness gone nuts.I'm just saying.

i need biblical references to dreadlocks my church kicked me out for wanting to dread

History and Religious Significance

P.S. Don't forget, the bible was written by the hands of men, not God himself.

History and Religious Significance

Well brother, why prove something that needn't be proved? Why worship in a church that disowns you for something so trivial? Honestly as one of the many spiritual beings that wonders this Earth in complete ignorance of what is or really isn't to be in regards to what happens after you pass away, the one thing I can say about my own spiritual journey through life is that that your belief/religion isn't about a building or someone else's opinion it's about YOUR FAITH.I believe in God, I pray to him every night, but I certainly don't discount the beliefs of others. Many a religion or set of beliefs exist on our lonely planet and who are we to discount or to deny other people or cultures their right to believe? Or visa versa, who are we to say "Our way is the right way" or "Their way is wrong", who gives us the right to do this? Nobody. Believe what you believe, pray and have faith. But do NOT allow others to take that what is most special to you, your belief in something that comforts you. You faith is yours and if you want it to be shared with others then go to that church and tell them they're full of shit because you are made in God's image and God loves you for who you are! He doesn't hate you for your hairstyle for fuck sake! It's not God who brought the boundaries it was man kind, it was the guy trying to make a quick buck out of people's naivety. So like I said and go tell those idiots that you're not there to worship them! Your there to worship God and if they don't allow you that which you deserve most for loving God then that church can go suck a fat, there's other churches and there's always your belief in God. I for one wouldn't love a God that condemned me for having dreads. The problem with organised religion is exactly that. It's organised.Spirituality and faith go way beyond the trivialities of the idiotic opinions of a church congregation. I hope you can read this and appreciate it, I do of course fully understand if you think other wise, because at the end of the day this is just my opinion. I don't want you to change what you believe because that'd be hypocritical on my part! I do however want you to know that I respect your choice and I think it's great you've tried to do something about the one thing that is obviously very dear to you. And for this God will love you more than you could ever imagine.Much love brother.

Rate the song above you!

General Talk

Hey so I've seen this done on other forums before and it's a great way to find new music! So what happens is you post a youtube or myspace link to a song you really love and then the next person to post gives it a rating between 1 and 10 and then they post a song they really like!On the other forum I did this it was either mainstream metal, indie or hip-hop that got posted 90% of the time and every time something interesting got posted it was slated! But I know dreadys have a good diverse taste in music so this won't be an issue! Post anything you like, it don't matter! So I'll start with this -

What is a Hippie?

Alternative Lifestyles and Subcultures

Spoken like a truly wonderful human being! I agree completely and it's awesome to see that your kids are learning that which is one of life's most important aspects; the ability to look upon another person and not make an assumption as to what kind of person he or she is. I think above all things the greatest treasure a human being can poses is complete and total selflessness! And in order to achieve this most beautiful of gifts you must obliterate the in built function to categorize one another. Then, happiness will be your final reward and that's why I don't like the way in which a word which is used to to make an object out of someone. It's like giving you a number. But I am of course, a total hypocrite because I won't deny that if I see someone clothed from head to foot in black with chains dangling from their trousers my first thought is "goth". I don't mean it in a horrible way of course, but it doesn't change the fact I've put a label on that person. So I suppose what it comes down to is what I've become accustomed to and I'm going to stop now because I'm just rambling on about random bollocks and I'm confusing myself beyond the point of insanity. But yeah, thanks for making me think dear haha. Pamella said:
Yes, negative people will find any way they can to stigmatize..I agree! No matter what path we seek, there is always an a**hole to try to put a damper on things....These days, people are so vulger calling each other nasty names..it appears that the word Hippie is the least of worries...What I think is so funny is my children are growing into awesome/openminded individuals..They do not consider any labels on themselves or their friends at all but everyone in their classes knows me as the laid back "hippie" momma...I havent referred to myself in this manner...lol..but thats how the kids at their school percieves me...They percieve me in that way in a positive manner. Alot of times, they say they wish I was their mom because I am open and nonjudgemental....
I once went to a meeting with the principal and bigwigs at my daughters school due to her astonishing accomplishments...I suppose I had been looked down on by some of them over the years because they did not know me....I guess thinking I was a crazy druggy etc..(labels)..but then I said to them "wow! this all come from the genes of a "hippie" and they completely froze!..I actually believe they expected me to be a person that didnt give a care about my children's education...They had no choice but to recon with their prior beliefs...I am educated, I am an artist, I am a dependable & humane being...I teach my children likewise...And they need to see this is "the way life really is" outside of their pristine walls~This was just one instance I used the term "hippie" to open eyes...Again, you are right..People do stigmatize..
I am more for human equality I suppose than anything else...We are all unique and beautiful..And I just wanted it to be shared that a person can be a "hippie"(label) and show true character above the norm :):):)

Hippie is word. I often find people just use it to stigmatize a certain type of person and it pisses me off to a certain extent, however it is often used in an affectionate way I suppose. So that's really what 'hippie' is to me. Just another word, you know like goth or emo. It's just putting people in groups and it's lame.
