What do you think?

Introduce Yourself

sure, all the stuff that schools shove down our throats and then quiz us and expect us to know a couple years down the road isnt really that useful.i personally think its bullshit :P but to get that A on the report card we have to work and put effort into our work. and thats all they are really trying to teach us to do. have goals and dreams and try and accomplish those dreams.(going to be a junior in highschool next year)and along the way u meet friends that u have fun with and make memories down the road. and a few of them u will be kicking it with years from now.not only that but i come from a poor, mexican family. so if i go to college id be the very first out of my WHOLE family to make it. and to me thats a big deal. so im in it to prove to myself and my folks that i can make it. and make a diffrence. and to not be another statistic on a graph that shows all of the latino/mexicans that dropped out, or that didnt make it into college. i want to show that i can fight the system. i have had many teacher look at me and tell me that i and confused. or that im not going to make it because of the background im coming from. but im not confused. i know exactly what i want.and if going to school or "prison" for a couple of the many years that i am going to have in this life will get me a great, steady, stable job that will help me get my own place. start and maintain a family. and help take care of my folks when they grow old and help pave a road for my kids (if i decide to have any) then i will definitly spend a handfull of years in "prison"but thats how i see it.

head and shoulders shampoo, do or dont?

Dread Products

after a shower i individually squeeze dry each dread with a green colored shirt.(so i can see if there is any moisture left in the dread or tips) and after 20 minutes of air drying they're dry and ready to go. i've been doing this process for about 2 and a half months out of the 3 months that i have been dreading. if i had mold how long would it take to notice it? i dont think i do tho... cuz im guess they would smell bad. or am i wrong? There are quite a few reports in the Livejournal get_up_dread_up community of Head & Shoulders really screwing up the locking process, especially the "Classic" formula. I'm guessing all H&S formulas contain conditioners of some sort. Probably best to stay away from it unless absolutely nothing else works.

Washing every day sounds like overkill. It doesn't give your dreads enough time to dry between washings, which can lead to moisture retention and mold. Bad news. You should space your washings out a bit, like three times a week.

head and shoulders shampoo, do or dont?

Dread Products

hola :D, i wash my dreads everyday. i use bronners lavender bar soap. and my dandruff is pretty under control. but i was just wondering if u could use head and shoulder shampoo.would that leave any residues? or cause conditioning and cause even more loose hairs? im thinking about experimenting a bit. i have also tried the baking soda rinse but i didnt feel much of a difference compared to the bronners bar soap so i just ended up staying on bronners. maybe i mixed it wrong or didnt use it right?so anyways.. have u guys ever used head and shoulder's on ur dreads? have any good or bad experiences? thanks in advance for all the responses :D

flat dreads

General Questions

i have that on a couple of my dreads too.some at the roots and i use to have one that was completely flat(i usually sleep on my back but i move around when i sleep too)so i thought perfect chance to experiment!i let the complete flat one be, just to see what would happen. no bead or anything. and after a few weeks of sleeping on my back that flat dread rounded almost perfectly on its own.and as far as my roots go,i just thru some beads on em and they are rounding out pretty nicely.and palmrolling does nothing. well at least for me. the first month of my dread journey i palmrolled maybe once? and it caused more loose hairs. which was the complete opposite of what i wanted :lso id say dont palmroll :Pgood luck my friendhope that was somewhat useful.

waxing vs over waxing dreadlocks

Dread Maintenance

but doing drugs is going to ruin my body, my life. i could die from that. i understand the message ur trying to get thru to people but im not sure this is the best way to say it. waxing my dreads(as nasty as it is 0_0) wont kill me tho.(just want to make it clear that i never have or will wax)i crochet mine MYSELF once to start my dread journey. (that was before i found this site) if i could go back id take the natural way. but a druggy, drug dealers dont force their customers to shoot up. they dont stick the needle in their arms. the druggies do that them selves.liked people who wax. johnny didnt make em wax. people that fell for that had little to no information. or were well aware of what the results were going to be after glueing together their hair and calling them actuall "dreadlocks" and those people probubly consider dreadlocks to be a hair style and nothing more. they probubly do it for the satisfaction of having everyone look at them as they walk down the hall or down the street.but thats all on themhere is another example for u. people who smoke cigs and chew tabacco. they are well aware of the lung and gum cancer they will surely get. but they do it anyways. they do it for the satisfaction cigs give them.but thats THEM doing it. not the ciggarett companies. they just advertice and dish out products hoping to make a quick buck.ANYWAYS, i am totally agreeing with u. why do something that is going to damage ur dreads. either right that moment or a couple years from now?all we can do is educate about what the effects are gonna be if u choose to wax or crochet etc.but in the end its all gonna end up to what they choose to do. wheither its natural, crochetting, waxing, perming etc.im just glad i didnt CHOOSE to walk around with candles on my head XD soaringeagle said:
umm

your point is?
im sure shooting heroin makes u feel good at the time
but is it a smart thing to do?

What dreading methods did you use?

Dreading Methods

I crochetted them my self.(I have never done it before. So they weren't super tight like a salon person would do em. Because...im not a salon person xD) And then a couple days later, I found this site. I don't regret crocheting them because I only did em that one day. I've let them do what they want since. Besides washing, switching beads from dread to dread every now and then. And riping congos from forming. I have don't NOTHING to em. And they look great. I can't complain at all. Im loving them. But if I could go back. I would start my journey off the natural way. Instead of crocheting.

after watchung it a second time i realized its aloyt like the hookes used in the mummification procerss that they shove up the nose and pull out the brain

i think he slipped and missed his dread 1 time and accidentaly removed a chunk of brain
explains so much
