what jobs do u people do

General Talk

I work as an oral and maxillafacial surgeon assistant. Like Biz said in her reply above, if you have a solid resume, confident, knowledge in what you are doing, passion, those are the things that will shine. I wore my dreads up and back, dressed professionally. It took about 5 weeks to get the job I wanted. I turned down a couple of offers due to their location, be patient too. Believe in yourself...it will show when interviewing. . I am on the older side too (age wise), with a husband who is retired from the attorney general office. I guess what I am trying to say is that dreads are showing up across a broad spectrum of occupations. Maybe have your mom look at some of our photos. She may chill out and relax a bit. Let us know how you are doing.

Peace and enjoy the earth today.

Lush Products on Dreadlocks?

Dread Products

Well, I did pick up a sample and also bought a bar of shampoo. They did say that it IS NOT 100% natural, but as close as they can get. I bought it any way. Will try it and see what happens. I have not had any bad issues with my dreads, no itching, flaking, etc. I am hoping for a nice light scent. I would be happy with that. The one bar, a little smaller than a hockey puck did cost me a touch over $10. peace out there on earth

Lush Products on Dreadlocks?

Dread Products

I just found that there is a LUSH store near me too. I am going to try to get over there today and check it out. I have not use any shampoo on my hair since I started dreads, 14mo ago. But it would be nice to treat my dreads to a new **&&^$% (lack of a better word). So I will see what they are selling for those who have dreads, making very sure that it is truly 100% natural. If anyone out there knows what I should be looking for, other than that...please speak up . peace and enjoy the earth today.

Fuzzy looks so unprofessional! How do I fix this?

Dread Maintenance

I do wear my hair up for my work. Surgical asst. I did post some pictures of different ways I wear mine, if that helps, take a peak at my home page and photos. I do wet my hair down before putting them up or back. This seems to tame the frizzy down some what, enough for me and my work. peace

Oh It would be nice to see more pictures of your dreads... :-}

Jobs and keeping your dreads

General Talk

Hi Kellokiki,

Yes I was a DDS assistant many years ago, endo and loved the surgery part of endo. Then I worked also up front and then manager of a DDS office. In that field in one way or another for 13 years. I took ten years off to go into real estate. Which as we all know bombed out, me with it. Soooo I decided to get back into the DDS field in one way or another. I have been applying for either the front end, which I know very well or assistant to an oral surgeon, which I would have to be trained. I did not go after general DDS or ortho assistant. Here in Michigan every job available has a high turn out of apps. DDS is the same. I was worried about being on the older side and top that off with my dreads. It took me about a month to get this job. I interviewed with 11 possible positions, turning down one that offered me a job, due to location. Out of the rest, I would say that I would only accept about 3 DDS positions if I was offered the job. I pretty much interview them as they do me and I am picky when it comes to where I work.

DDS assistant is always a good field to fall back on. I have always like it.

OH!! The tiramisu did turn out good. My fellow workers all like it, at the sporting good store. The DDS office ask me if I was going to bring in cookies...so I am looking for a great cookie recipe for my first day of work there..

peace and enjoy your evening

Jobs and keeping your dreads

General Talk

Well I have been searching for a job since the second week of February. I have gone on a number of interviews, enjoying each of them. Turning down one offer due to its location and driving distance. I did wear my dreads up, photo is below. The job is as an oral/maxial facial surgeon assistant. I have always been pretty confidante and like I said enjoy interviewing...soooo that comes across. I start next week and will still work a day or two at my other job at the sporting good store. I was beginning to think that I may have to cut my dreads off in order to get the job I want, the pay I want and location I want. Well I may be just lucky, but every thing fell in to place today. So for those of you out there who may be thinking of cutting their dreads off, may be hold out a little longer, be confidante in presenting yourself during your interviews. Well I then went home and made Tiramisu, which I plan to take into my other job.

peace
