how necessary is Palm rolling clockwise root rubbing?

Dread Maintenance

i personally have no experience with palm rolling but when i look at my friends dreads all i see a bunch of roots stuck in his hair but then again he palm rolles and twists and plays with his dreads when ever hes not doing anything so when my hair does dread and knot up im gonna try and leave it completely alone cause i dont want to have a whole bunch of white specks in my hair.

Finaly got dreads done!

General Talk

i wouldnt wash everyday more like every 2-3 days cause this will allow your hair to get used to not needing to get as oily so quickly Robbbb said:
Okaaayy, so i wash as normal every morning before i go out no brushing or cconditioning and this will be the journey of dreadlocks?

that's part of what i meant, keep taking your showers in the morning,
they come apart some,
but not all the way normal.

then the natural method will work for you cause you have to wash your hair and you have the perfect hair for it if its curly cause they will form groups faster that way Robbbb said:

that's what I had always figured at first,
somehow though they do, and crazily,
(if you think about it probly 90% *made up number* of the locking up takes places while you sleep, i think this movement has a profound affect on curlier hair with its coilyness,

that's just a theory though,
I remember a time when i was stressed/busy in high school and didn't brush my hair for about 4ish days and just stood under the showers to clean, and I had this tight as hell knot on the left side of my head, took forever to get out *i sleep almost exclusivly on my left side cept when i force otherwise*

looking back at that, that was a baby lock in the making, if I had let it be, and pulled it apart as they formed, probly would had almost 3year old locks by now.

DEAD ENDS

General Questions

the white ends are not dead ends of your hair but actually the root of the hair when it either fell out or got pulled out through some exterior source.

I am that brain dead jock....

Dreading Methods

social status really means nothing if you really think about it because in the modern world we live in everyone has there own uniqueness about them and if people are gonna belittle you because of the way you wear your hair or the way you dress then those people have no right to even have the joy of knowing you for what you are and that is an individual. almost everyone of every walk of life has the right to express themselves for who they are inside. you shouldnt let peoples opinions of you get to you because opinions are like assholes... everyone has one and there is nothing that can be done about that. if you want to do something then just do it because its what will bring you happiness and joy and that my friend is my opinion of what life is all about... enjoying what you do and doing what you enjoy. i hope that you to will enjoy your journey though life and the journey of dreadlocks.

dreads falling out

Dread Maintenance

SECOND!!! Knottysleeves said:
Read the guides on this site (links on the right). Wax actually prevents your hair from dreading.

Since your dreads are already falling apart, it's best to comb them out so you can properly get all the wax out of your hair. Once it's totally clean, you can re-dread, either by backcombing again or just going natural and letting them knot up by themselves.

I can tell you from experience that clean hair with NO wax or products dreads up 10x faster than with wax. It sounds like maybe your hairdresser friend doesn't understand how dreads form -- hair needs to move around freely in order to tangle up, and it can't do that when it's coated with wax.

Hope that helps!
