True enough, I've around 115. If you want tiny locks you just have to make sure you rip often and know that your hair will take longer to mature the skinner your dreads are. Have fun letting your hair lock and be ready to let your hair get worse before it gets better. Iain said:
lol that was like me in 10th grade, oh the memories >.<
anyways you could just start yours now, but it'd be nearly impossible to have ones close to his, your curly hair helps alot and you can have over 100,
D i think it was has very curly hair to and his are pretty thin to,

His length varies, sides are longer. front is pretty short, wouldn't even have to be at shoulder length,

FAQ

General Talk

A lot of people tell me I have really nice dreads but then say something like; too bad you can't wash them... Then I have to explain that dreads are as clean or cleaner than "normal" hair. I've also found that a lot of people think my hair is braided or that I had to have braided it and left the braids in until they,"turned into locks". When my hair wasn't locked up a lot of people thought my curls were dreadlocks, just goes to show how clueless some people are about dreads.

Reasons to cut your dreads.

General Talk

Me too Lonnie, other than that I can't think of any reason to cut them off. It'll be two years since I quit conditioning and combing in March and I can't imagine cutting them now that I'm out of the awkward phases. I hate to say I'll never cut them but I can't picture myself without the rope factory on my head. Lonnie Berg said:
I think that if I felt by cutting my dreads that it would help someone signifcantly in some way that I'd most likely do it, after all helping others is more important than hair.

Question about neglect method

Introduce Yourself

Don't worry about where your hair parts just keep your hair clean and let it knot. Then rip your hair in sections as it starts locking so you don't end up with a mono-dread.

Finaly got dreads done!

General Talk

So I looked at your pics and your hair looks a lot like mine when I used to still comb my hair. I suspect they put some kind ultra hold gel or hair glue in your hair. Just start washing your hair with a shampoo that is residue free and your hair will start lockng on it's own in no time. No need to comb it out just make sure you keep your hair clean and you'll be well on your way. You can't make dreads in a day so just throw away your comb and enjoy the trip.

How many dreads do you have ?

General Questions

Thanks I'm going to try and keep them all from combining so I plan on keeping them around the 110 to 115 mark. Is your last name May? If so we share that and having dreads in common.

I just counted 113 but i could be off by one or two. At one point I had closer to 200 locks but as I've let my hair lock up over the last 22 months I let my skinniest dreads combine.

Hey! Where do i start?

Introduce Yourself

You'll be good to go when it comes to washing your hair, I workout 6 times a week and wash my hair at least 3 times a week and have been washing my hair that often every since I quit combing my hair out. Just make sure you don't condition your hair at all and that you are using a non-residue shampoo. Have fun locking your hair, enjoy the journey!

I have quite a few questions about the natural method.

Dreading Methods

So I just wanted to chime in on this, I have super curly hair when it isn't locked up. I have over a 100 dreads that were formed all natural and none of them are bigger around than my pinkie. When I first quit combing and my hair started to lock, I would palm roll my baby locks to work some of the loose hairs surrounding them into my already forming locks. If you just wash your hair regularly and leave them be you'll have a head full of locks in no time. My hair only took about two weeks before people started to make comments on how nice my "dreads" looked even though they took about a year to fully mature. My locks are very small and if I'd allowed them to congo more I think they would have matured a little faster as fatter dreads seem to do.
