Dreading Methods

Agreed very much, sir! John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word. And the word was with God, and the Word was God." He may have kept with custom, but then again Jesus had a knack, according to scripture, for bucking the system. So I wouldn't be surprised if he did have dreads after he started his 3 year ministry. And that baptist johnny... Man, I bet he had killer dreads after all the time in the wilderness! Stephen Horner said:
I think that the Word of God is true (since God is true and powerful enough to preserve His Word) in verses Matthew 2:23, Mark 1:2, etc......) and that Jesus was from a small town called Nazareth. I think it is not unreasonable to think that he is a Nazarite since he is the Son of JAH and is closest to JAH in that he is JAH made flesh. Did he have dreads, I think so. Some think he kept short hair which was the custom of all devout Jewish men in that time in Israel. I guess you could go either way. The Word of God does say this though about Christ's return "His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;" (Revelation 1:14 KJV).

One Love and Livity in Yeshua,
Stephen

Dreading Methods

Well, he wasn't black, LOL, he was Jewish. And a carpenter, he had much darker skin than today's Jews. In between Jewish and Arabic. Considering the beginnings with Abraham between Arabs (jew/egyptian) and Jews (just jew) I'm not surprised that he would be darker skinned, though not black, my friend :) But does it really matter what his skin color is? that very interesting,
I could only imagine what the majority of Christians would say to that fact, I already see some of them heat up to the mere suggestion that jesus was black instead of a fair skinned man with nice pretty hair.

all admins plz read

General Talk

I figure those of us not admins can always bring attention to a problem, since there seems to always be at least one admin on, and the problem can be dealt with quickly in the "report, fix" construction.

whom loves wax??

Dread Products

Yeah, I used (wax) for a long time. The 1st set of dreads I used religiously, the 2nd set less so, but I used for 9 or 10 months. I haven;t used wax since late august. Yeah, dreads get SOOOO heavy with wax weighing it down, but I spent an hour washing with dawn, then with baking soda sea salt and lemon juice, then with this citrus based solvent, and repeated that about 3 times. Did this in the sink and constantly changed the water, making sure it was piping hot to melt a lot of wax. Got a ton of wax out, my dreads are sooo much lighter now, but I suspect I will never get all the wax out. But yeah, when I'd wash, I'd have white spots where the wax was holding the soap in and I couldn't get it out, but now after extreme de-waxing, I don;t get those anymore, it doesn't hold the soap in. I am gonna try wax paper/iron this week sometime to try to get more out. NO WAX FOR ME! :)

dread products review, knottyboy & dreadheadhq

Dread Products

I still have an old can of wax, and "dread butta" from dreadheadhq, so here's ingredient lists exactly as they appear, parenthesis and all:WAX"Ingredients: Cera Alba (beeswax) cera microcristallina (microcrystaline wax), paraffinum liquidum (mineral oil), semen-inis canabis sativa oleum (hemp seed oil), tocopherol (vitamin E), parfume (fragrance)"BUTTER"Ingredients: Theobroma cacao (cocoa) extract, mineral oil (parafinum liquidum), microcrystalline wax (cera microcristallina), theobroma cacao (cocoa) seed butter, dimethicone, fragrance (parfum), tocopheryl acetate, benzyl alcohol, carotene (CI 40800)"Doesn't that sound delicious?Anyone care to comment or research some of these? I'm admittedly lazy, so I may or may not research them, considering I don't use these products anymore, I'm not sure it really matters to me what's in them, I just know they didn't work for me long term.

dread wax why ya don't want it why ya don't need it and how to remove it

Dread Products

LOL ha, yeah, no joke. I'm going to be trying some of these methods to get my dreads wax-free. If it's the way the you tube videos show, I'm sure I've got a ton of wax in the cores of my dreads, all except a few really tiny dreads. Even if I can;t get all the wx out now, they are short, and so it'll only be those 6 inches that have a little wax, and since it's locked and a year old, I'll keep it as long as possible. Hopefully I won't ever need to clip, but it may happen that I have to. I have some hardcore CUTCO scissors for that if it happens, but I hope and expect that I, and my dreads, will survive. soaringeagle said:
they should be required by law to put an expiration date on the wax..

not for the wax..but for the dreads

dreads and jobs

dreads jobs employment issues

Yes... but we are also responsible for being truthful. I like dreads, but they are not protected in my case. I can't say it's part of my religion bc it's not. soaringeagle said:
only if you allow it
dress code cannot ever under any circumstances restrict religios freedoms..period
they can say "we dont allow that" but the momment you say sorry, but you hasve to respect my religion then they have to allow it..period no more argument or you can take them to court
wether you wear muslim garb or dreadlocks or the lil hare krishna thing or the hindu dot..if your beliefs and your looks are linked then they must resapect that under every circumstance.. but you are responcible for saying yopu know your rights

not in america. you can't discriminate against people based on their race, religion, etc, but an employer is able to turn you down if your appearance doesn't fit into their dress code.

Well, unless they have a policy that says for men "short, neatly combed hair"
