Getting frustrated

General Talk

I tried seriously. I came here found the information, deceided that DHHQ and knotty boy were evil corporate liars just out to make money. And its been two months of no products twist and rip just leaving my hair alone. And you know what i have to show for it? Hair. The dude who backcombed and waxed has something on his head that resembles dreadlocks, i dont. And you know what? He doesnt have nasty candles on his head, hes got geniunly nice looking dreads! FUUUUUUUUUUSo far my dreadlock journey has been frustrating and itchy. All of this patience and waiting hasnt paid off in the fucking least.I REALLY want to think that you guys are right but the evidence around me says otherwise! Im seriously considering combing out my "dreads". and at this point, there would be hardly any difference if i did!aughhh

Introduce Yourself

how the hell do you guys keep your dreads smelling nice? If i wash mine on Monday theyll be fairly nasty smelling on Friday (sort of an oily unwashed hair smell) but only within 3 inches of my head. It doesnt smell awful or anything but i wouldnt want anyone sniffing my head

Certain methods make your hair grow longer?

Dreading Methods

if you were to mix the ACV and the baking soda you wouldnt end up with either. You would get sodium acetate and carbonic acid, along with water and CO2. basically, if you mix then you soaking you hair in salt water.

dreadheadhq dreadwax used once regretted forever never wax dreads

Dread Maintenance

i just found two more in the back of my head with some residual wax buildup in them. fortunatly they were almost completely loose hair. All i did was wipe it off (for the size of the dread, a full wax removal isnt worth it) and twist and rip the hair. What i figured was that the wax on the outside of the hair has not problem being washed away or worn off during normal activities, its on the inside where it gets built up. This way i doubt the minuscule bit of wax will cause too many problems. Now this puts me in a unique position. I have tried almost every method of dreading for about an equal time. So in order ill review from best to worstBest: Natural - the ones that were completely left alone are very rope like. Although there very wavy there tighter than all my other dreadsBackcombing: Although they fell out pretty easy, the one dread in the front of my head that was VERY tightly backcombed is ridiculously tight. Not as tight as the natural ones but its also not so wavy so its kind of a compromiseTwist and rip: Most of these guys are pretty fluffy but holding together well. Seems pretty decent, nothing too specialWorst: Backcombed and waxed: The dreads that were initially backcombed and still had residual wax came apart so easily it was rediculous. No knotting going on at all. Aesthetically, they looked just as good as all the other baby locks but after i removed most of the wax and twistnripped they are MUCH thicker
