I am that brain dead jock....

Dreading Methods

Well... not a big fan of jocks myself, they're not really the nicest people. But nothings wrong with jock's having dreads.. I actually believe I've seen some professional football players with them. (Although I wouldn't really know, not a big fan of sports. :3)

dreads falling out

Dread Maintenance

Yes, all the rumors are true.. Wax will make your hair fall out and you'll start to grow horns and on top of that your scalp will begin to melt and angels will cry.I suggest you ditch the wax, clean that gunk out of your hair and try to twist'n'rip the ones that are falling apart to start forming dreads again. Remember, time & patience = dreadlocks. :)

Natural dreads

Introduce Yourself

Hi there Ryan maybe I can help you out; first off welcome to dreadlock forums.I started the natural method 5 months ago when my hair was pretty short (around 1-3) inches; what I did was pretty much started washing my hair only every 2-3 days without conditioner. Knowing you have curly hair you probably dont brush (I definitly didnt when I used to let my hair curl lol) I also recconmend using a non-residue shampoo (baby shampoo works)The first couple months will be your hardest; your hair will grow, become unmanageable and look just darn awful to the people around you but its all a test of patience, if you can put yourself in the right mindset to just let your hair grow naturally and let it do what it wants to do it will REALLY pay off in the years to come. :)Anyways, 5 months of growing my hair from a short length and they are just long enough to make some quality baby dreads, I'm quite happy with the progress I made and it didn't even seem that long.Good luck to you ryan, dont be a stranger and feel free to ask as many questions you need to know on the forums.. Im sure theres someone who knows alot more than a newbie like me.Peace \/

Dread Maintenance

Happens to me too, probably has something to do with length.. Not 100% sure though.

"G's" Dreading Journal (10th month update! June/06/2010)

Member Journals and Timelines

Hellooooooooo, It's been about 5 months of growing my hair without any maintenance starting from a very low hair length. I think its about time I post some pictures on how my hair is looking in the off chance someone who is starting their dreading journey is wondering what their hair should/might look like. This will be updated whenever I feel its necessary :D

5 MONTHS: (Sorry for the low quality images.)

Hi there, been a little while since I last wrote.. The last couple months I have been playing with my hair and twisting and ripping whenever I was bored and dreadlocks were finally starting to take form, mostly in the front and just recently starting on the sides as well, I'm having trouble doing the very back so i think i'll let nature take its course for awhile!

7 MONTHS: (Again pardon images poor quality, crappy webcam)

10 MONTHS:So its been awhile since I've updated the journal.. Sorry. :D Anyways, I'm sort of unimpressed with the progress my hair is in right now. However this month I plan on getting a Wool tam, Dr. Bonners, using SE's baking soda wash, and sea salt accelerator. I'll try to get month 11 in too to show you guys how all that stuff works to make dreads into well... dreads. http://img249.imageshack.us/i/img4321d.jpg/ TOP http://img97.imageshack.us/i/img4320r.jpg/ BACK http://img340.imageshack.us/i/img4322m.jpg/ LEFT SIDE http://img62.imageshack.us/i/img4323i.jpg/ RIGHT SIDE
