I have had more compliments on the appearance of my 'natural' locks than when they were formed including family members saying they look better. When it comes to dreads...what is neatness?

Never heard that before...that's pretty interesting to me. Labels are for jars...bottom line. But I definitely won't get annoyed by them as they're probably not going away ever until Babylon falls, just my opinion. For sure rainbows and deadheads is so different but can be both. Some beautiful words in this thread...let me just add a couple points.The origin of the word "hippie" was started by the beatniks who hung out listening to live jazz. They called the musicians "hip" and "hipsters' as they were so impressed by this new music to them. So as you can see, the original meaning was a compliment. And the musicians smoked their weed thus turning on the beatniks to the herb and it spread out from there.Back in Jesus' days yes there was a system of labels. I can't remember who said there wouldn't have been. Interestingly...the first followers of Christ called themselves "Followers" and "Believers"...it was the Christian haters that called them "Christians" and meant it in a derogatory way...and then it stuck. Not so different than blacks calling themselves "nigga" when ya think about it. It's how you react to the word/label that proves who you really are and what you are made of.Shit...can't remember my other point, lol. But I do see where, ((Didj)) you are coming from too.

I love what Puppy said about vanity and the people it attracts.I know I still don't have dreads...BUT...last year, when dating the biker dude...I brought up how I was planning to start dreading. His response was something like, "don't expect me to sleep with you for a couple months or more"Lmao

Ballet was my sport. Physical outlets of some kind are very good for people. I still love to watch a good ballet sometimes. It's an art too...and some could argue that so is playing sports. Professional dancers don't make anywhere near what pro athletes make...and they work as hard physically and mentally. But that's just the world we live in. I like to watch Detroit Red Wings and U of M football sometimes
