What method of dreading is this?

Dreading Methods

Hmm looks pretty natural, but also like she influenced them somehow, not sure if she sectioned or if she just did a bit of T&R. They are lovely and very unique and I am guessing they are a bit young still, but not new new.

Swimming Pools & Dreads

General Questions

We are planning a vacation and likely will be seeing some beach and even some pool. With natural sea water, I have no questions or concerns, but what about swimming in a pool with dreads?Anything I need to do to protect them? Will they hold that pool water smell? Will the chlorine hurt them? Do I put them up and not get them wet at all in the pool? Would I need to wash them in a special way to get the pool water out?

darkening dreads and hiding lint in dreadlocks with tea

Dread Maintenance

awesome! yea I used to use black and rosemary teas to help darken my hair naturally and it works by tinting the hair over time. I haven't done it in a while, and was actually noticing some lint from a white towel I used this week when drying them. Lint is such a PITA. LOL!

What would happen if you used normal anti-dandruff shampoo???

Dread Products

it can loosen your dreads if your dreads aren't mature. otherwise i would just use very sparingly and try to use some herbal tea rinses for dandruff. rosemary tea in spray bottle on the scalp or a few tablespoons poured directly on the scalp a few times a day can really help.

they call these "beautiful dreadlocks" made in just 1 day?

Dreading Methods

In all honesty, I have seen worse. However I do think they used some wax or too much of something. I hate how they call it magic, kind of gives me the creeps of what magic crap they put in his poor hair. I also think holy crap, how tight they did them. Poor scalp. It also appears at the least they crocheted the crap out of them, and I also think I saw a rubber band in one of the tips (although I could be mistaken)I only hope this guys scalp recovers and that his dreads will eventually loosen up enough so they can lock on their own and be free.

General Talk

I was so there months ago and when I first started, fussing and all, now I love the loops/especially fatter and conkykinky curvy textures and yes (gasp) even the flatties. It's funny because I don't even palm roll regularly anymore. I haven't in a month or two. EEK lol..rock on sister!BTW- I'm also a recovering permie

the price of well maintained salon dreads

Dread Maintenance

Salons aren't always what they seem. With changing trends, Salon dreads are all the hype right now. I even bought into it after knowing someone who had salon dreads that I once thought were gorgeous. She suggested I see her stylist.I had a salon nearly ruin my dreads with a "dread perm" and then want me to go back for regular tightening (which by the way folks anyone can do it home, as they use known techniques and instead of rubber bands they use thread to tie in the hair). My dread hair is so brittle now from chemicals. You wouldn't know it from my pictures but, I have had to combine and am still slowly combining dreads that are waaay thinner than pencils and about to break off (those dreads are hidden around the larger healthier ones). Literally I have dreads so thin I can count the hairs easily as they only hang by about 12! I have taken hair from my hairbrush and dreaded it into the weaker dreads hoping to feed their weakspots. Doesn't sound great does it? Beware fellow dreads of salon disasters and greed.

dread girl on american idol

General Talk

I don't watch much tv and never watch American Idol. Last night I was at the gym walking on the treadmil (of course I am not working out hard since I am pregnant) and the shared tv had AI on it and several others watching. I couldn't help but also feel she was very talented and hoped she'd win. Her dreads are really gorgeous too!

Was turned down recently for a pizza gig

Life Issues Facing Dreads

Seriously, not like I cared so much about this job, but I am actually more taken back by the way I was "let down".

We have an aquaintance that is a manager of a very casual, nothing special, pizza joint locally. I already have most of my day taken up by being a mama, apprentiships, and light work at a doctors office, but I thought It would be nice tohave more of a cushion to help us out.

So when I found out they let someone go and was looking to hire, I mentioned I would love the job. I live close by and am reliable. I have great work history, and I figured the manager and I being nearly friends.. Well.. I figured it was no big deal. I even told them I would wear a hat.

Get this I was told: " you have great work history, references and no doubt would be hard working, but your just not what we are looking for".

WOW.. Just WOW..

Probably illegal to discriminate like that, butno way I can prove it, not really wanting to deal with the drama either.

Just thought I'd share. It's a screwed up world out there. LOL
