Dread Products

couldn't have said it better. soaringeagle said:
thats truew too its all overmaintanance working on them instead of just letting them dread its all the forcing them to look mature when theyre still just babies..the rush to get to some idea of perfect dreads just turns them into something far from perfect.

dreads are chaotic disorder forming organic beauty

products and maintenance methods just try to tame the chaos and creat order that ruines the whole process and the beauty that comes from the natural disorder.

New growth = movement. Did you concider having them attached for your experiment?

In my opinion, not having the locks attached to your scalp will make your findings some what pointless. The locks cant properly mature if there isn't any new growth.Should be interesting tho, kudos for your planned commitment.Peace.

OzzyDread's Lock Time Line (Last Updated; 12/03/11)

Member Journals and Timelines

Update 2.5 years;

Hey all, been a long time... finally got access to the internet again (moved out of home on good terms) so I thought I would come say hello and put up an update. Hope every one is doing well!

anyway, Its been almost a year since my last update, my hair has grown a fair bit in the last year (about 6 inches or so) and I'm starting to have allot more problems keeping them apart. I started off with 50 odd locks, at 1.5 years I was down to 30 and over the last few months due to constantly going to the beach and some what letting things go I'm now down to 26, if I don't tear them apart every few days I'll end up with one big lock withing a few weeks. As far as maintenance goes, all I do is rip them apart every few days. I haven't put anything other than water in my hair for god knows how long and there still amazingly clean. There also very light when there dry but the complete opposite when wet.

My mum has finally warmed up to them. ^_^

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Its been 1.5 years since I first backcombed and 187 days since my lastupdate. I've gone from 50 locks at day 380 to 33 locks today. I ended up
taking my fish bone out, was getting annoying. The braid I did a while
back is un doing itself slowly ( at the end ) as the roots have been
knotting together. its now 50/50, Solid dread/braid. Other than all my
locks congoing together nothing else has changed.
