Tea tree etc wont do shit. I've tried it at both low and high doses. I suggest you get the appropriate fungal killing shampoo and use it when really needed. Most others here will suggest against it, but it works perfectly fine for me when the itching gets unbearable. However, best thing you can do is not scratch, regardless of how itchy. It will make it worse. With my old dreads I literally scratched till I bled on a number of occasions. If you fight the urge to scratch the need will often dissipate on its own.
I used to just wet my hair in the shower and give a vigorous shake. But I have really curly hair, so maybe it wont work for you.
I think it's hilariuous that everyone here promotes BS so much... Of course it's going to eventually eat away the hair. I BS every 4-6 months, just to eat away the dandruff that will inevitably built up.
4 months is very youn. You have to wait. Use locking gelk to speed the process.
Tara may be right. Barrellady is also on the mark. We need to know how old they are. If they are not yet very mature, don worry about it. If they are mature, jut let some of the thinner ones grow together, keeping in mind that dreads mature to the size of the section on which they sit. Regardless, it is very likely that it is only you who will notice. You may be over scrutinising. both sides will never be exactly the same. Hope it works out for you.
There are tribes in Africa that actually use a type of mud to get the dreads to stick. I don't know how long they have been doing it, but I would assume it's been passed down over many many generations. So, they will likely have been around for a long, long time.
Know what's more expensive than latex free condoms? Babies. As others already stated, natural methods are nowhere near 100% effective. That being said, condoms or other methods are not 100% either. I would double the timeline method with condoms or some other method. Or you could have the man take action.
