Dread Maintenance

i guess i got a little spoiled looking at some of the timeline journeys on here where at 6 to 8 months they looked like nearly mature dreads and thinking well that how my should look too. if you all say i'm doing fine then i guess i just need to sit back and work on my patience...again... thanks everyone!

Dread Maintenance

BS wash once a week no ACV becuase i have hard water and oily prone hair and when i tried they would come out flimy. i mix up just slightly lest then 1/4 cup of BS in a 24 once bottle with a squeeze top and 3 drops each tea tree, rosemary, and citronella. twice a week i use a spray bottle to spray in my salt water mix. i was use the salt water ever day but wash day, but my hair is finally adjusting to work so i think i can start skipping days and go down to two. as of bout 3 weeks ago it thicken up enoguh to where i didn't need to bun it i could put it in a ponytain and pull ti half way back through to make a loose loop. so the dreads are gettign to wiggle and move a little during work now.

Dread Maintenance

i did stop separating those little dreads over a month ago. yeah the loose hair is the hair around the hairline all around my head, but it's a lot of hair, and the hair that did start dreading, it hasn't changed in 3 months. i have crazy whilrs at the bottom and may an inch of actual dreaded hair then the strands are loose to my scalp. i've already resigned myself to being a year and a half to two years to get mature dreads, but still seems like they should be dreading up thicker and faster then they are. at 7 months most people on here have something that actually looks like dreadlocks. i understand that i have to be doing something wrong, just wish i knew what.

Dread Maintenance

Ok so later tonight i'll be post my 7th month pic in my dread line. As it'll show i've had little to no change in my locks since month 4. i still have a layer of hair (under the layer that at lest started to dread) that hasn't locked up at all. I was wondering if i put some hemp wraps on these loose chunks of hair for awhile would that help get them started at all? or have the opposite affect? I tried twist and ripping one section to see if that would get a knot started but my have is fine and silky enough it feel out in two days. i also have some super tiny dreads i would like to have congo together as they don't seen to be thickening at all.. would wrapping them together for a few weeks get them started? I'm happy i have something started but i just have to be doing something wrong to have to little progress here and 7 months in i had hope for something more resembling dreads then messy half matted hair. i'm starting to get very frustrated and thinking with my hair type i just simply can not not have dreads.

Thanks all! Heather, i hopped by your page and took a gander at your progression. i'd say my 11 month looks bout like it'd fit between your 15 and 19 months. looking at your 27 month pic, i'm hopeful! i'm still thinking i might get there in 2 years. I mean i started in 06 growing my hair from 2 inches long just to dread. took me 7 years to reach two feet of hair. I think i can handle a measly two (to 3) years to dread now. Feeling good!

OK latest update and photos of the last few months. at this point i've resigned myself to being one of those "slow" dreading fine hair folks. so i've gone to looking at 1 year as the half way point. i still have loose hair along the hair line for maybe 5 to 7 more dreads, i have as of now 33 official teenage dreads (long gangly stage). They are hard and flat so far. i'm hoping in the coming months they will puff up and round out. *fingers crossed* either way i'm determined. i waited 7 years growing my hair out and getting to a place where i could start my journey... i'm not gonna give up now. :)

Ok finally got months 5 and 6 up. plus i posted a link to a video i put up on youtube to better show off my baby dreads and also get some questions out. i'l post the link again here.

my progress feels like it's came to a screeching halt the last couple of month since i've gotten a job. I feel like i should be further along then i am. *sighs* just gotta keep telling myself it may take longer (2 years instead of 1) but i'll get there eventually and it'll be worth it when i got a head full of awesomely beautiful locks.
