Bird mites?!

Introduce Yourself

My step mom can get it free at her work, and I'm going to buy some shampoo from an estyshop I've had my eye on when I set up apay pal account. I read vinegar helps repel or kill them, hoping that is true..as well as lemon grass, which I've been using in my bs/ac wash for about 2 or 3 weeks.

Bird mites?!

Introduce Yourself

Know, it explains the itching. Its going to be a long next few weeks of treatment on the house..all the clothes, the carpets, the furniture. We are getting rid of all our chickens. Just..everything is getting washed, treated. I read that neem oil stuff, vinegar, and some other things that I'm going to try.

Bird mites?!

Introduce Yourself

Just found out there are bird mites in our house. We have chickens that get into our yard and ourdogs sometimes attack sometimes dont. Anyway, I'm freaking out. Anyone know anything about them? Do they go into hair? If so, what should I do?

Itchies?

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

I'm itchy like, everywhere! Its driving me crazy. i'll get an itch somewhere and a small bump will appear, think xxs mosquito bite. My scalp as also been itchy too. I have a few ideas what might be the cause:1.) I have dandruff, and it always gets wose when the seasons change.2.) its dry where I live, and im not using enough lotion3.) Possibly my skin no longer likes the detergent/fabric softener my step mom uses.4.) I just started with essential oils (rosemary, lemongrass and oregano) and have yet to find a amount of each I like to use. Therefor each time is a bit different.5.) Bugs, I saw a itty bitty baby spider crawl across my phone the other night while in bedAnd last,6.) my own mind. I've been kinda worried about why im itchy, so that can make it worse. Kinda like reading this might have made you feel itchy some where. So please someone help rule out or add to this, and how I can make this stop! I'm going crazy

one month old

Member Journals and Timelines

A few days past one month, surprised by the progress so far. I thought it was going to be alot slower. I'm working on fading the red dye now. I would enjoy a more nature color.I started with tnr. Almost every single dread has some sort of loop or zigzag and I've lost at least an inch in length. . Super happy :)sorry if the pictures are huge, I tried my best to scale them down. I can only do so much with my phone.

Let's Get Personal

General Talk

I was in bed on my laptop watching something on netflix when it just randomly hit me. What if I get dreadlocks? What are they anyway? Could I do it? How? So I started researching. The more I learned the more I wanted a set. I started using a bs/acv rinse while I was still considering it. I noticed my hair became tangled a lot easier. I had decided to wait till I got a job, however one night I thought "well its going to take months to form dreads, so why put it off" that next day I tnr'd my hair. Dreads seemed like the perfect thing to me. I never curled, straighted or did anything with my hair besides dye it and brush it. Everytime I was looking for a new haircut I wanted something that looked nice without having to really do much. Dreads just make sense to me. My reason doesn't seem as cool or deep as others but..oh well.

Young/Beginning Dreadlocks and Water

General Questions

I personally wouldn't get it wet daily, maybe by a shower cap and wash it every other day, or whenever it gets itchy. Since you work out a lot and you sweat more it gets dirty faster, which you know. Do what you feel comfortable with and slowly work towards washing your hair/scalp less as time goes on.

sectioning and splitting dreads

Dreading Methods

I have a few small ones doing it, but I find those to be my favorite. Its like reverse congos to me. I can't wait to see what they do in the next few months. Great post. :) I was wondering what and why some were like that.
