~HELP PLEASE.....~ I have no dreads just yet but really need some loving input/advice....please...

dread wax and dread kits recovery

Dont worry about what your plastic dread mate has to say, your hair will dread just fine if you let it do it's own thing, give it time. Good luck

DREAD PROBLEM! Help appreciated!

Help! Save My Dreads

Hey everyone, Firs up I'd like to say I'mAn idiot for doing what I did to that one dreadlock that I'm having a problem with. Well pretty much my hair dreads a lot faster at the back than the front, a few months ago, before I attained the dread knowledge largely provided by SE and this forum I platted three of the semi dreads at the front of my head into a single dread permenantly. I just thought it was interesting to try something I had heard noone doing well anyway I kept continuously platting and re platting it and eventually I came to a problem. The dread had thoroughly locked up at the roots and the plat had come together at the first few inches very strongly however the end was still very much separated and being a dumass I decided I needed to join up the tip which was still separated into three. I bought some dhhq products ages ago on impulse thinking that was the ideal way to go about getting dreads but boy was I wrong. After i bought them I read the ingredients and then searched up reviews of the product and found out that they suck arse. I threw them out without even opening them. But I hadn't thrown away one product... The dread comb DUN DUN DUUUNNNN excuse me... Continuing my story I had that god dam comb and feeling disparate i decided to give it a shot and back combed the tip of my platdread to make them into one. Anyway I thought it was a good idea and felt satisfied even after I had used it. Well now I have one half platted, half back combed dread that has a random bunch of thin haired fluff at the end. I don't know what to do with it , should I wait it out and hope it will fix itself up? Should I chop it off and let it grow again from square one (I'm happy to do that but would prefer not to)? Please share your thoughts with me, all advice is appreciated. Thanks for reading peeps. P.S every day this forum is able to inspire me and I give props to SE for all his good work.

What does having dreads mean to you?

Introduce Yourself

Wow I dont know where to start hey, I guess a lot about me changed when I started growing dreads, it was a time when I started questioning things like the authority of religion, the truth about smoking weed, and life on the streets here. I began to spend hour after hour practicing graffiti, an art most of my friends were involved with. I also started reading and learning about history and the nature of modern society. I stared attenig protests ( mostly refugee ones) and really began to learn what i thiught was the reality. But it also had a negative impact on me, i really abandoned my family and rarely came home, thinking that what I was doing was right. I stopped going to school regularly to instead spend schools hours in the bathroom with my brothers smoking weed. I began to deal bud at school and spent my nights out on the street graffing. I eventually got caught graffing and dealing by the cops and Had to go to court, the hardest point of my life so far. Once I got caught I really began to understand what matters in my life. I've stopped smoking and now spend most of my time involved in reading and music. really, I guess that the journey I underwent at the time I began my dreads was both negative and positive. But overall it changed me into a much better character. Now, I can really understand the situations of people around me much better and I am much more connected with the people and things that really matter. Shit I just wrote an essay lol

Dread shrinkage and sweat

Introduce Yourself

Tbh it really depends on so many things, having neglect dreadlocks means that all of them are different sizes and therefore at different stages of locking and lengths. I guess I don't really have the authority to answer your question since I started dreading from bald (20 months) but I guess I can say that once your hair really locks itself up it isn't really going to shorten much more and well... For me personally when I look at it in hindsight every now and then I realise it does grow although it may be slow. I guess I didn't really answer your question and ended up going on an aimless rant but maybe you got something out of this. Good luck!
