This one is my most interesting one, although its been evening out recently. Its pretty flat, but you can't tell with pictures. My daughter wanted to be included... She likes to come up and pick up my dreads and say "ohhh! Crazy!" =]
And this one is my only one started by backcomb(the rest are tnr)... It was loose and straight for the longest time! It has come back with a vengeance!

How often do you shower?

General Questions

I usually only shower if I feel particularly dirty or stinky! So, probably every 2-3 days or so. I also only use soap on the parts of my body that get dirty/sweaty, so my usual shower usually only consists of washing my feet, underarms and other sensitive areas, etc. The rest of the time showering is devoted to contemplating the universe and making life decisions =]

dread support..?

Life Issues Facing Dreads

Sometimes you just have to shake things off and not let silly people bother you! Who cares what other people think? No one else's opinions matter as long as YOU like your hair! People will always try to hurt you where they think you are vulnerable, so you just have to respond to people's negativity in a positive way!

If someone tells me "Your hair looks stupid!" I just shrug my shoulders and say "Well, I like it!" Usually people don't know what to do and just shut up haha

Suggestions for Styling Dreads

Dreadlock Styles and Dread Styling

I've recently started doing a low french fishtail braid into a pony -starting the braid slightly above my ears and stopping at the nape of my neck, and I think it looks pretty! Also, just taking random dreads and tying together looks nice too! Just keep tying until you have no more to tie, and tuck in the ends!

Your experience with family/significant other not liking dreads?

Introduce Yourself

My family was/is surprisingly very supportive about my dreads! I think mostly because I've always sort of been the "hippie" of the family, so it kind of just made sense to them I guess! My in-laws on the other hand really discouraged me from starting, but I went through with it anyways! I think they secretly do like my dreads, but don't want to admit it haha. Before I started the dreading process I asked my (13 year old, eccentric) sister-in-law what she would do if I had dreads and she said that she would comb them out while I slept! The other day I asked her about it again and she said she would just cut one off so I would "look silly", so thats progress I guess!
My husband though has been the most supportive! He has helped me get through the crazy, frizzy, messy, tarantula-leg-head phases with my dreads and sticks up for me with anyone who has something negative to say about them! He would love to have dreads, but I think he wants to make sure that things are steady with his work before he makes the commitment! He grows a mighty ginger beard in the meantime though and lives vicariously through me and my dreads =]

Election poll....

General Talk

Idoagree with you SE. Its just disheartening sometimes. If and when I do vote I'd like to vote 3rd party! They need all the help they can get, thats for sure. Sometimes I wish there were no political parties and people would actually have to do research on the candidates instead of just siding with the politician wearing a certain colored tie.

Election poll....

General Talk

So, I just moved out of state and didn't register to vote here in Tennessee. From what people tell me I may be able to do an absentee ballot, but you know what? I don't think I want to bother voting. I understand the importance of getting out there and having a say on how you want the country you live in to be run and I encourage others to vote, but part of me kind of wants to just wash my hands of the whole ordeal. I don't particularly like either Red or Blue candidate and with how this country's politics are right now (and for the foreseeable future) a third party candidate has no chance. So in the meantime I'm going to work on bettering myself and volunteering my time to work on the causes I am concerned with, or maybe making food for the hungry or crocheting blankets or clothes, seeing as it may be hard to go out and volunteer with a little one in tow, we'll see.
So, I'm totally on board with you, Taby! I think in order for the government to change, the citizens need to change first. There's a quote that I'll never forget:

If there is to be peace in the world,
There must be peace in the nations.
If there is to be peace in the nations,
There must be peace in the cities.
If there is to be peace in the cities,
There must be peace between neighbors.
If there is to be peace between neighbors,
There must be peace in the home.
If there is to be peace in the home,
There must be peace in the heart.

-Lao Tzu

And that is what I think about that.

The End.
