Some people are patient as long as a year and a half before being along enough to identify anything on their head as a lock...I rarely ever see this,and haven't in a few years.But it happens.

It could just be that they have one flaw to their washing routine that keeps it from dreading.Having super straight,smooth,silky hair in combination with this could mean waiting a lot longer than they'd like.I am not sure,since my hair will tangle to the point of needing cut off in just about a week.

I get why people use wax now...

just sit and wait...Your dreads will get to be approximately the size of your section.They will always be thinner in the beginning stages.Not including loose hair/frizz..

You have different thickness of hair and what have you than other people,so timelines don't have to match up for progress.I am months behind my fiancee,hers still have catching up to do compared to mine in certain areas...Backcombed hair will loosen a good bit too.But just wait it out.you don't have to restart or anything.Just time.You don't shed hair like normal haired folk do,it will remain in the dread,so it will build mass.Patience,and take Biotin(B7) supplements if you want..But paitence really.

Very loose for 2 years.You need some beads..The hair inside the actual bead doesn't seem to dread for me,but the hair above and below does.Then you just move the bead...From the looks of it,you need several beads.Wood beads are cheap,and easy to remove by crushing them if they get stuck.

As far as congoing and avoiding it goes,rip them apart when wet.The hairs break more easily.That's as good as it gets.

uff..I made a bigger mistake and wrote it wrong.It's per 2 liters.It is about 1 cup to a gallon or so.

I think it is just build up from some dandruff I had for a couple weeks combined with the 42 degree weather making me sweat constantly.Some of the roots on my dreads feel like there is a slight gunk or build up from this..I just started washing with BS..I use about 250ml to 1 lter of water.I soak my head for about 15 minutes and then rinse it for about 10 minutes.

Does ACV help breakdown old dandruff?it isn't visible on the outside of the root sections,but I am sure it's inside...I fortunately don't have rot or anything.

Any suggestions are appreciated

I work near pizza ovens all day,so It is hotter than sweating over dishes.You really shouldn't be washing them the way you are daily.

they are going to fall apart a bit anyway..It is part of the process.Don't comb anymore!!! You'll probably just break more hairs..I am a waiter.I shower daily,but I don't put my dreads under the faucet every time because it is more harsh than just dipping dreads in water and washing them...Just rinse them well if you absolutely have to clean them.I wash mine twice weekly with soap,but other than that,I just rinse....A knitted cap will let shampoo and water get to your head without the rushing water hitting the dreads hard.

Nobody else mentioned yet..But if changing your hairstyle often or if you fear people asking what's up with the new hair,then dreads may not be for you...They can be a fashion thing for some I guess,but either way,it's all about patience.
