10 month update - tie the bases?

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

That's the kind of hair I have, I get the same problem. Luckiy it helps my hair dread up super fast. I just keep separating, i don't know if thread would work so well because you would have to wrap it up a fair bit and just or the back ones at the top might look silly. I don't think I'm picturing it right though!

Neutrogena Animal tests?

General Talk

I am surprised not more people know. Most big companies test on animals. Try writing them a letter, the consumers need to keep standing up for what is right.

Natural Dreads At Lightning Speed (updated)

Member Journals and Timelines

That is EXACTLY what my hair use to do. Several times a day I would have massive knots in the back of my hair despite brushing constantly.I chose to section and twist and rip so I didn't get congos (I've joined about 6 dreads into big ones and they've completely joined in less than a month), and my hair has never come undone. My dreads were like mature dreads by 5 months and I'm now 8 months in and they are basically perfect.I love how quickly your hair has progressed, keep us updated! :)

Before I started dreading, I'd have to comb out huge knots that would form in my hair by my neck a few times a day EVERY day...I didn't realize that it was my hair trying to form dreads. It seems like my hair has wanted to do this for a long time.

smelly sca

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

I get a smell too. It just smells like oily scalp to me, it happens even half a day after I wash. My dreads might be rubbing or massaging my scalp and making more oils...who knows. I've always had very oily hair.

Definitely agree with this as a vegan :)

i agree 100% a vegatarialn or vegan diet will almost eliminate body odors that are caused by toxins being eliminated friom meats and processed foods

in fact even your feces will smell less if you go as far as raw vegan it will be oderless

sweat and other body oders can be eliminated by changing yiour diert to a pureer one cutting out meat is the 1st biggest step

i havent used deoderants in decades and never have any prioblenms..in fact i probly only used em up till i was like 15 and went veg at 16

stinky {mildew?} dreadlocks

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

Mine have a wet dog smell (not really moldy) when they get wet. It's impossible to get my thicker dreads dry with anything less than a blow dryer on high heat for 20 minutes straight, and I have a baby too so way too long for me. I have the Aussie humidity too...I do a lavender and vinegar soak. I would try using a whole lot of lavender oil and the sun to dry it up. Get a blowdryer too,Just warning you, of you let this go and they get mouldy, you can endanger your health and get seriously ill. Mould is no joke.

That's a little too far.

The few times my hair started to get that funky smell, I fixed it by doing a soak in warm-to-hot dishwashing liquid water, followed by another warm soak in vinegar (either regular clear vinegar or apple cider vinegar). Then a good long washing scrub session with shampoo and a long rinse.
