Getting rid of brushes, combs and conditioners! NEGLECT with love

Dreading Methods

Hey, suuup, I'm Sian, been on this site for over a year, not been dredding in that time but I enjoy reading what people have to say and seeing pics and from this I've been able to help people I know with their dreads an stuff, encouraging them to go natural 'n' all that!

I have always had what could be classed as 'punk' hairstyles, mohicans, spikes, shaved, BIG back combed creations in all sorts of colours.

Weird to say but I love my brushes and combs, I love my hair being BIG and striking, maybe it's something to do with me being just over 5ft tall? Perhaps because my tiny Mum is the same! xD

But yeah, I love my big bamboo brushes, you know the type with loads of thin soft bristles, I brush my hair backwards with them and it makes MEGA volume and I spray it and go....I realize I'm talking bollocks here, I'll get to the point.

I realize that to do this I should just get rid of my tools to rake out my man-made knots and just leave my hair be.

I won't throw them in the bin coz that'll be a waste haha, I'll probably give them to my friend who has a death hawk because he never has a brush and often comes mine to do his hair (more like to have his hair done).

Until I see him I'll place them in a bag so I'm not tempted to use them.

My hair is kind of at about 10cm, and I shaved it bald in October of last year so 7 months, about 1.4 cm a month during winter. So it's currently a bit short to knot up but it's making little sections, good is good!

I'll just have to wait! :)

Peace! Sian

Sunrise meditation (ish) for mental wellbeing

General Talk

Hiya, thanks for taking the time to view this!

I'm interested to see whether any of you are interested in meditation or sunrises.

I'm pretty stressed, have been for as long as I can remember. I love nature and stuff and I happen to live near a beautiful woodland and grassy areas and I have an interest in the sun rising, I fancy sitting and watching it rise surrounded by nature, I hope this can reduce some of my stress.

Problem is if I spend too much time in silence (anything over a minute) my mind starts to race and stress and worry build up, my mind wont rest.

I was wondering if anybody had any techniques for meditation that could help me?
Perhaps giving me a focus, a mental image would help but I'm just not creative enough to think of one, I'm a noob to exploration of my own mind xD

Any help would be really appreciated! Love on ya! Sian xx

LUSH Fresh Handmade Cosmetics

General Talk

I was wondering whether LUSH shampoo bars are Dred friendly, no build up? I e-mailed them about it and the said they've had good feedback from dreddies about the bars, but that means nothing to me really, maybe these are waxed up dreddies who liked the clean feel and build up isn't something they has considered?

I don't know the ingredients for the bars, and if i did I wouldn't know if they were dredsafe :'D useless me!

Dread Maintenance

also, i'm not looking at them until they're longer now, just gonna wrap them up or wear a loose hat, that wont harm them will it?

just gotta keep separating them coz they're ALWAYS eating eachother, i want to put acrylic yarn round them but not quite sure how....lol.

Dreadlock Shampoos in the UK

Dread Products

Hi I'm Ginge, but i'm not really anymore coz i've dyed it black but i'm still a Ginge at heart! (and at pale and freckled skin)

I'm not too well off for money so i can't buy stuff from like america and that.

I was wondering if there's any dread brands based over here in the UK that you trust, or if there's a wash that i can use inbetween using baking soda, I try and keep that to once a week because my scalp is shit :)

Also does anyone know if original source Vegan shampoos would be particularly bad if it was really diluted? I just prefer a bit of a lather when i'm washing my hair coz it's easier to spread like.

Thanks for reading this dudes, much love on ya!

Natural dreadlocks tips (post them here)

Dreading Methods

Like Ashley says, you cold rinse it in some sea salt water to dry it out a bit, you could also twist and rip it into sections, that's what I did, i didn't section all of it I left some bits loose, the top front and back of my hair is a bit shorter than yours looks so it will work for you, they might stick up for about a week though but they calm down then :)
