Hi, I'm new to dreadlocks. :)

Dread Maintenance

Greatings.

Am guessing most folk have different ways of starting out, for me i got a good friend to back comb my hair as if she was doing braids, its taken a while for them to 'bed' in as such but aside from that i do nothing special to them, aside from plenty of rolling them. I may start using bicarbionate soda on them to wash them (i hear thats good).

Either way best of luck and just have lots of patiance at teh start.

Regards

J

Introduce Yourself

Greatings.

Am studying current in York at Askham B'. I really do love York as a city but its so flat, hmmm, i need the mountains and such to light my soul on fire and get me stiring as such, and i'll be doing a hons degree in forestry management (see, not all dreads are dumb hippies, hehehe).

But yeah Norway does seem such a breath-taking place. As does Alaska, Canada, Germany (part of my home land), most of Eastern Europe and any other place that has hills on magnitude and views to match.

Hannah am sure Redcar has its good points (I hope, lol), and if the beach scene was filmed there, well you have a beach, what more could you ask for?

And Sarah, yeah I know Bradford (for all the wrong reasons am afraid ;) ). Yeah teh lakes are sooo nice, really good for the soul. As to Norway, bit differant to Bradford I'd guess, what brings one the move you mind me asking? I'd love to get out there at some stage, I study forestry management and of course teh forests out there would be fantastic to go work in/on.

Yeah I know just abouts were Redcar is, its north of York somewhat isnt it? Never been though. Is it nice?

Hi Sarah, another 'northerner'! Good to hear that the north has a healthy pulse of dread lovers.

Shortly I'll be classing my self as even more of a northerner as i'll be moving to the lake district in a few months (the idea of having such a large play ground is simply to great to pass up on).

who is doing this for spirtual reasons? and what are they

History and Religious Significance

Hi Adam (and every one else).

I to personally believe that I have some spirital connection with something ofa higher class. What it is I am still trying to put to in to words. But to put short I personally believe that in some ways (mock all you wish) that my locks do allow for some type of connection to what my soul is hunting for.

Also funny (not in a hahaha way) that you mention about dreads/locks being 'roots' of the brain, I really do have a other strong interest with roots and mycorrhizae but thats a differant matter.

And am sure (forgive me if am wrong)its Salix (from the tree) that is used in asprinin so although processed in a way, its from the earth.
