How do you deal with peer pressure?

General Talk

Yeah I TRY to be nice about such things at first, but I come from a family with anger problems and bad tempers so it doesn't always work...Just ask my wife. That why I want to grow dreadlocks. As a symbol of letting go of my anger and becomming a better person. Though its a shame your family just can't seem to understand...

Very true, and we all have our own ways of dealing with it. Generally I just tell people to piss off...but you can't always do that. lol

Why are you worried about your family being stressed out about YOUR hair. That seems like their problem, and they need to stop worrying about you. If they worry more about your hair that anything else, they should probably sit back and think about their own lives.

Thinning hair and dreads.

I get a lot of protein from shakes and meat etc. But I have a texture issue that keeps me from eating a lot of fruits and veggies

Thank you very much! This is exactly what I wanted to hear. I try to not care what others think and how I look etc. But its nice to hear something good from somewhere with the same problem ya know?!

I share your pain. I have thin hair on top as well. I am so glad I went ahead and let my hair dread. I think it is important to not make the dreads too thick. I did gently backcomb the dreads on top.I needed them to be sectioned to hide the thin spots. Once I placed them where they could hide the scalp, I just let them do there thing. Washed with Vicki's soap and kept separated. So far, because I kept them small, the number of them act as barriers to project fullness. But the most important thing is do not cheat yourself out of having dreads. You are more than your hair, and even some dreads are better than no dreads. They will give you the confidence to be yourself. Actually, I was more self conscious of the thinness when my hair was straight. With dreads ,I feel beautiful!!! Journey on....

I am 23 and I am losing hair on the top of my head ( young I know...damn genetics), I am really wanting to regrow my hair and dreads here pretty soon. The thing is my hair has thinned since I had them a few years back. Does anyone else have thinning/balding problems and have dreads? I am just curious to how it will turn out with my hair problem. I guess all in all it doesn't really matter I should just do it while I still have the hair.

Giving dreading another shot.

Dread Maintenance

Looks good man your hair might be a little short and that can slow the process...Have you measured it at all?

You have any way to post pictures? You should at least have some babies starting by now depending on your hair type.

Been about 4 months since i stopped brushing and my hair is sectioned and crazy, but i haven't seen anything more than wild bedhead. Should i be seeing knotting yet or is that still a bit away?
