Starting over

General Questions

Thanks for the info and tips! And thank you JXhippielovinpeace! It's been something I've just felt like I needed to do. I got off to a bad start with this set, and just haven't felt fully satisfied with the experience the way I now know I would with a natural set. I'm pretty excited! :)

Starting over

General Questions

So my dreads are just over a year old, and I've decided to start over and go the neglect route. I've got about one third of them combed out so far. I originally backcombed, used wax and crocheted. Plus my sectioning felt unnatural. Horrible, I know. That's why I'm combing them out and starting over. I want to let them dread how they want, and I want to enjoy the process and watch it all from the very beginning. One question I do have for the natural process is how do I avoid a part in my hair? My hair will be down while I let it dread, abd there will be a part on top. So what do I do to avoid it dreading and forming a part? I know that's not a big deal, but that was one advantage I found with putting dreads in, was controlling where they go.

Dread paddles

General Questions

Okie dokie! :)In your case do they tend to thin out ever, or do they generally stay beefy? Lol I really don't mind the looks of them, they're kinda neat. I just have some beads that I really like and can't fit them over the monster ends lol

Dread paddles

General Questions

A lot of my dreads have the big paddles at the ends. I've also noticed them on others, especially on those who don't do a lot of maintenance. I was wondering if those paddles ever get tighter and skinnier, or if they'll always be fatter at the ends. I know I could cut them off, but I'd rather not have a blunt cut at the bottoms of my dreads. Anyone ever have their paddles thin out over time? If not, I'm not too worried about them. They just make it are to put beads on lol

two questions! congo and hair growth speed

General Questions

Thanks a whole bunch guys! Maybe I'll check into my diet as far as growth goes, because that's a very good possibility. My undreaded strands have only grown 2-3 inches in about 8 or 9 months, and it used to grow like a weed! Lol. Thanks again everyone! :)

two questions! congo and hair growth speed

General Questions

Nice pics! It's cool to see pics at different stages. Mine have already shrunk so much, it's crazy! I've had them a year, but still haven't noticed any growth yet. I mean I know it's growing, but it still isn't showing lol. Mine don't seem to be congoing as quickly as everyone talks about theirs doing. I'm jealous lol. I guess I'll just be patient! Thanks!

Thanks so much for sharing your info! I didn't know if connecting the whole way down was even possible, but now I know! Interesting! :)

two questions! congo and hair growth speed

General Questions

Okay, first question. I'm trying to congo a couple skinny dreads. I was just curious if the whole dread length congos together, or if it's just the new growth at the roots?Second question, does hair growth slow down with dreads? I don't mean the dreads themselves. I know how that works and how it appears to grow slower, even though that's not the case. I have regular, undreaded strands that don't seem to be growing as fast as they did before I dreaded my hair. Is that possible, or does it mean anything? Thanks in advance! :)

Can bad sectioning correct itself?

General Questions

That's pretty cool! That's not nearly as scary as what I was picturing tearing them to be like lol
