question?

General Questions

one of your friends likely had a nasty mess...leave all that stuff alone, your hair's too good a texture to mess with all the bullshit advice! let them do their thing! you'll be happy you did.

lol she pops 'em just about the same way i do! it's so nice to see beautiful locks in shorter lengths too. i didn't watch her other vids, but she seems to have some really useful tips.

why would you use kiss my face? it's got some stuff in there that just isn't needed, some derived from petroleum, which is bad for dreads...and some that are still sythetic, though derived from coconut oil...they just aren't what i think of as 'all natural'.

the bars from dreadlockshampoo should work great on unprocessed african hair! since you've been using dishwashing liquid, you wouldn't even go through the usual week or so of unrully fly away some people have when switching to natural bars!

dreads thinning or breaking causes and cures

Dread Maintenance

my appologies, i totally did not think about that...'tis true, sadly...it pulls out your hair follicle...'root flipping' and 'interlocking' are the biggest culprits. soaring eagle is the master!

i can tell you from experience tho that root rubbing and crocheting can be 'healed' to a certain extent. my dreads are on the mend, and i've never loved them more!

Dread Maintenance

With time, yes...you may find that you have some places in the older parts that aren't as soft and nice as your newer growth, but yes, yes, yes, they can be allowed to do their own thing and your scalp will thank you for it!

help?!

Dread Accessories

mine shrank only slightly less than they grew, so it wasn't that noticable. i say grab you some funky ear rings and such and own the sassy dreads after thinking about it!

help?!

Dread Accessories

aww, mine are shorter and pretty damn sassy, if i must say so myself. i've seen extensions used, but i don't think i would go that route. seems to me you could damage your babies. even clips could pull your little knots if not used carefully. i did decorate mine early on though with some beadage and such to add some interest...

i'd say clips if you go with extensions.

best dreading method

Dreading Methods

why would you have to cut? the permed hair should actually have nice raised cuticle that should help it dread nicely. start your residue free shampoo and see how it feels in a week or so, i'd think.
