Yeah i know i've tried to tell him about the dangers of his ways but he just says that he likes for them to be neat....So i've done all i can for now...

So a friend from work has dreads and he has African type hair and his girlfriend does "maitnence" to his dreads....
Well her brother wants dreads and having caucasian hair asked me for advice on what I use....

I told him what I thought and he told me that his sister knew what he was doing so she can take care of it....

When told him that the twisting method she uses on her boyfriends hair wouldn't work on his hair and could eventually cause the dreads to break and possibly cause balding he quickly changed his mind....

I referred him to this site and hopefully everyone's advice will help him get started in a positive direction....

So I ask that everyone please respond to any questions that newbies have to help get them going in the right direction....

Alright yeah that's what I was thinking but I was just making are there wasn't a more complicated reason... LolI have this one crazy loop that is really 4 right next to each other and it makes an S looking shape...

I was just wondering....I know they are normal and I'm pretty sure they are a good sign to the newly dreaded but what exactly do loops form from and why do they form...Is it the new growth pushing the hair out of the lock only for it to get sucked back in?What is the overall purpose and reason of loops I guess is what I'm trying to ask...

I work at palatka daily news and I work in the back where the newspaper gets printed and one of my co workers said it looks cooler then my old hair but now I shod carry a cup around with me an beg for change.... But it was all in fun... Lol

Yes I agree... Your discussion is soon to be raped by people telling you no wax... LolI Agree again on the wax thing stop using it at once and try to wash it out as best as possible...I've had dreads twice... The first time I had my dreads for about three weeks and I used wax the entire time... I took them out for a stupid reason but I decided to dread once again...This time I used wax lime twice before stumbling across this site and finding that wax is bad for your dreads and so I stopped using it immediately...Then in the few weeks that follow insaw so much more progession ...I would say twice if not three times the progression as when I used wax..

Well I think it seems to help too because I work in a print shop and I sweat so much you'd think I was doing construction in the hit sun.....And I'm only three weeks in and my dreads are getting pretty tight....
