Hard Water and Baking Soda Rinse

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

I have FINALLY had success with the baking soda rinse! for the first month I was washing my hair with baking soda and it was disgusting, super oily and looked terrible!. I then got some dreadlockshampoo from the nice lady on this site. All was good. That was until I ran out!

The secret to washing your dreads with baking soda and hard water is very simple. You must first boil the water! I am not sure why but it works.

Boil water, add baking soda. Stir. Let cool.

My dreads have never felt more clean and it is really helping with the dandruff issue I was having!

Awful Dandruff!

Dread Maintenance

I was my hair around every other day or every 3 days. I am not using any sea salt. I will keep trader joes in mind. They are down the road a mile or so!

Awful Dandruff!

Dread Maintenance

Alright guys, so here is the deal.

I have been dreading my hair for around 3-4 months. I started washing it with BS, but soon bought some liquid soap off the dread site that SE recommended. Smells great, works great. Problem is, my scalp is still horrible, white flakes especially by my ears. I like hot showers and would not really like to go buy moreeee things (such as oils) for my hair. Any suggestions?

Blunting tips?

Dreading Methods

Hey everyone!

Just a few questions. I have been dreading my hair for a few months. Pretty happy with where everything is going. I was just wondering if there are other methods to blunting your tips other than a crochet hook, because I do not have one. It seems like everytime I get into the shower the water just undoes the tips. I know I know, dont worry, but since I have shorter hair I would like the entire thing dreaded and I am a fan of blunted tips.

Any suggestions everyone?

Thanks!
