I used and still use Sunlight soap, it is amazing for dreads and makes the hair grow, when someone suggested sunlight soap i though 'no way' but it really works so well for dreads. it doesn't have any additives. When you do section off and do dreads the hair should be completly dry and NO conditioner ever.
Something deeper in your soul is stirring and waking up, the feeling of wanting to grow out your hair and maybe have dreads is a primal awakaning that is wanting to get in tough with nature and the very source itself. You can't expect any bald headed nut to understand. Got with that feeling, it will never lead you in the wrong direction.
What helped me was i have alot of carding wool, all colours and natural brown too, you could felt up some dread extensions from wool and have someone or yourself cris cross stitch them onto sections of your hair. Just take the size sections you want for your dreads and do a little back combing and attach the made up dreads, even if it only to weigh your hair down, they can come out later. I know this helped me so much when i started out.
Your dreads will thicken when the roots of them start growing as the hairs that usually fall out daily will interlock. If you ever wanted to take your dreads out you just coat them with conditioner massaged in, then get a wide tooth comb and comb out, you could cut them half way but you would never have to shave. Your hair look like it will produce a nice full head of dreads 
Sounds like you had a heck of a lot of dreads to start off with, i can see being that many that they would thin out quite alot. If they have just been done then your answer is 'yes' dreads do thin out an awful lot when they have just been done, it should stop soon. What do you mean you 'cut' off some?? You obviously need all the thickness you can get if they are thinning out as they grow longer. With 1 of your pics you say you have had dreads for 3 years, it looks like you have exceptionly thick hair - maybe its thinning out abit, is there any relatives in your family with the same type of hair as yours and is male, i really hope for you this is not the case but the fact that you have so much hair hopefully abit of thinning won't be noticed by others.
Maybe its your skin being irritated by the new dreads, try tying your dreads back off your face for a couple of weeks to eliminate this idea, are you wearing some kind of a dread hat of dread tube that you didn't before. Or it could be pure coincidence with a hormone change or smthing.
Mainly decoration, some people like 2 even out bumps and lumps in dreads to help them matture, or ifa dread dos'nt matt well. I just love dread wraps and jewelery so much especially of the natural types
i think you answered it by saying you need to wrap each dread until they have properly tightened, then they wont congo anymore
WOW Soaring Eagle I'm so surprized but real happy that you r into adding more dreads by making them up, this is so what i need to do as my dreads r far apart and thinner than i hoped.

u could have over 100 dreads but 40ish is usualy a decent number just dont make em all real thicjk i woulda only made a couple in inch a dozen 1/2 inch and a c ouple more dozen 1/4 inch but if u like thicker then a few an inch and a couple dozen 1/2 inch
