Natural Loc journey

Introduce Yourself

Yes it is! It is also the best picture I have, hahah. It became somewhat ~tumblr famous~ at some point after my friend posted that picture online. Thank you, mama!

Washing

Dread Maintenance

I would just avoid it to be honest. I tried to also look once for shampoo that I could buy rather than ordering online or making my own.. and came to no luck other than Doctor Bronners.. which I have my own personal feelings on. If I can't tell what an ingredient is on the back of the label right away then I just avoid it all together.

Hello! Gabriel here :)

Introduce Yourself

^^ Sea salt spray is great. It's funny how dreads ... well... dread. They undread to make better dreads! I remember being so frustrated because I have VERY fine straight hair. It seems as though most of my dreading comes from when I sleep! Beads are great.. for those ones that dreads that love to eat other dreads. Or you can embrace them. My one dread in particular is called BIG BOY because he loves to eat everyone.. haha... looks good!

Washing

Dread Maintenance

Scrub/Massage your scalp, and let the rest run down your dreads. If you get fuzzies just pick them out and if you notice you are having a lot.. later later on in the months you can do cleanses.

Mildew and Rot Knot questions

Dread Maintenance

I'm just going to add in... are you having suitable time for your dreadlocks to dry? That is also a BIG BIG factor in dread rot. Not having adequate time for your dreadlocks to try. Sometimes they feel dry, but they aren't completely. Also refraining from sleeping on them wet. I usually get up early in the morning like 7... haha and wash them if it's nice I let them hang out of the car window... lol. My dreadlocks are really long and thick so they take anywhere from 12-16 hours

1 week in, question about scalp

Dread Products

The sectioning looks great. It's a really good brick lay pattern. They will become less visible as your hair grows in about an inch. Also they will become less tight in about a month. Have you washed your hair yet?

African Black Soap

Dread Products

I make African black soap shampoo for dreadlocks.... My etsy site is Knot It Goods.

The only problem with ABS is the PH it's usually a 10 which isn't good for hair. Mine is a 6.
