I'm still using liquid atm, I love it but it doesn't produce a lot of lather, which is normal I guess. I was used to those artificial shampoos with a lot of lather everywhere so gotta get used to more natural now.

Thx this idea about quadrants seems good and helpful, I'll try it out next time when washing.

Actually I use Vicki's dread shampoo, I've been using it for a bit over a week now, but I have really hard water and it's not producing much foam like I said. But ok you said much foam is not desirable anyway.

Ok if I understood correctly you recommend just washing and rinsing many times, it's nothing wrong if I do it up to 4 5 times and use smaller ammount of shampoo on each section of my head.

Do I have to rinse after I wash each section or can I just leave it in and then just thoroughly rinse once after I'm done?

When I rinse should I also use my fingers like when washing or should I just pour water on my head and let it rinse out?

Ok I'm now about a month and a half into the process and everything is going well. I've bought some DR shampoos and I really like them, however I still have some questions about washing. 

When I wash I rub the scalp like said many times and I try to mess with the hair as little as possible. But I have some issues with shampoo distribution. I usually just squeeze a fairly big ammount on my palm, then put it on my head and start rubbing. But what happens is shampoo just stays in that one place on my head, it doesn't produce a lot of foam and I have troubles distributing it across the entire scalp. I usually rinse and repeat the process but still I manage to achieve best results in maybe 2 places on my head and I feel like I haven't properly washed other areas.

Once the shampoo is on my head I try not to distribute it too agressively because my dreads are in a very early stages. I thought perhaps applying a more liberal ammount would help, then rub my palms to produce some foam and then perhaps add more gradually as I'm washing. Also should I continue with a rinse and repeat process and wash it 2 times or should it just try to wash the best I can and do it only once?

Edit: I forgot too mention that I'm washing twice a week. At first I wanted to do it only once, but my scalp starts itching after cca. 3 days so I think washing 2x a week is best for me.

Edit2: I noticed that my dandruff has dissapeared since I started using Vicki's dread shampoo, very satisifed!

Damn I'd love to have blunt tips, I just naturally have very curly and loose tips. I guess to each his own, but I just wanted to say I wouldn't compain if I was you, hope that helps

When would you recommend a first separation? I'm cca. a month into natural and I'm starting to fear a little bit (not really tho) that I could get some big stuff at the back of my head (in the front everything is just ideal for now). I do have a very unproportional cut because before just letting my hair go I used to have a pretty extreme undercut (fade) type of haircut. Then I just let all of my hair grow naturally cca a year ago. But as a result I now have a lot of shorter hair (dreads) under my longer hair (dreads). When I tie my hair with a hairband my curly locks stick in all random directions on the sides of my head.

It's completely logical if you take a minute to think about it. I'm no expert whatsoever but there's golden rule with dreads and also a reason why "neglect" method is considered the best. If you leave you hair alone as much as possible and only in that scenario will your hair get locked the best and those natural locks last the longest. It's impossible to artificially force hair to do anything other than cutting it off or dying it, everything else will wear off over time, well those 2 effects included. But if you're leaving it be, then you basically give your hair time and place to figure out which hair does it want to connect with and eventually locks form. If you're rubbing with wool or anything else, you're doing something unnatural, plus you're also rubbing already dreaded hair, causing it to leave it's original place and falling out eventually. Perhaps african hair can be an exception from this rule, some (black) people claim that rubbing helps them form dreads, but I suppose this is only true with very short african dreads.

Ok another question: Is there any possible way to avoid large areas of undreaded hair on top of the head near the roots? I suppose nearly everyone who's been dreading naturally is encountering this "issue"? Not that I be loosing sleep over it, I'm just asking. I'm washing my head under @SoaringEagle's reccomendation to only focus on the scalp with fingertips. My dreads are generally forming pretty nice on lower sections, but near the scalp my hair is mostly undreaded atm.

And another thing: I decided to pay more for shipping than products itselves, but still I made that decision and wanted to order a couple of your shampoos and sea salt sprays. Just to find out to be impossible, it doesn't let me through on checkout, Paypal doesn't detect a country switch, I've checked it multiple times but it still just remains on US, as a result billing adresses don't match and I'm unable to order anything from your site. I've also sent an email with a built-in website option. I doubt any international costumers are able to order anything in current state, I never had any of those issues before and I've been ordering plenty stuff from US in the past. So just letting you know so you can fix those problems as soon as possible!

I want to spend money but currently I'm unable to. :S

Yeah thought about same stuff myself, I'll just put it on lowest heat setting and circle around my head as quickly as possible. But if I'm not in a hurry, I'll still just air dry instead.
