Sky Blue baby dreads

Member Journals and Timelines

Love the faded look of them.  I'm thinking of dying mine to my natural color so they are all one uniform color.  Right now I have the ombre look going from when I used to highlight my hair

A day with the ocean

General Talk

I live 15 minutes from the ocean and I go in 1-2 times a week.  I usually then wash them the next day.

I have super soft hair naturally so I find I do not need to condition and the salt water really helps dry it out a little. I plan on getting a spray bottle to fill up for the colder months when I can't jump in for a swim.

Question About Loose Fringe Hair That Won't Lock Into Any Dreads

General Questions

My husband had this problem as well.  It took a while but they finally formed their own dreads or paired off into the closest dread.

Good luck!

Thank you soaring eagle.  I'm pretty pleased with where they are after spending a month fretting over them

Twist and Rip Dreadlock Timeline (6 Months!- UPDATED)

Member Journals and Timelines

3.5 month update on my baby dreads 8/25/16

So I never got around to posting my 3 month update.  It was my birthday and I got busy and I guess that's life.

Since my last post a lot has happenned.  That trouble spot in the back has started to form dreads really well.  Some are super knotty, some are just dreaded at the tip but they are all doing something.  I only have a small handful of loose hairs now.

When I started my dread journey I had 49 dreads. Since counting yesterday I am now at 55.  So there has definitely been some sectioninggoing on this month.

The long wispy tips are continuing to form together into tighter sections, so while it sometimes looks just like loose hair it is forming knots from the inside out.  I now have one super long dread that is in the front from where some hair shed and got stuck but I'm just letting it do its thing.

I'd say my most mature section in the upper back atea.  It is really starting to feel like dreads.

I will try and update again at the 4 month mark.  I have posted some images on my timeline and alsowill post a few here so you can see the progress when I'm on my computer. Having trouble from my phone.

Would my hair dread? If so what would it look like?

Introduce Yourself

My hair is very fine and typically stick straight and mine is dreading great. I used the twist and rip method (3/4 fell out but are now all starting to form crazy little dread babies).  You can look at my photos on my profile but like se said you wil not really know what yours will look like, they all change so much, and can vary based on thickness and other factors.

I say go for it if you want to.  If you end up not liking it you can always take them out.

9 months neglect video

General Talk

Just watched your video! It looks like they're progressing nicely even if it is taking a while to actually form.

My dreads that have formed naturally are also small like the ones you showed.  Some of them are now doubling up onto each other or pulling in other small sections.  For me, they seem much thinner at the tip but when I follow it up it ends up being about 1/4 in at the base.

Good luck!

Will this hair ever dread? Feeling frustrated

Dreadlocks Journey Emotional Support

That makes sense.  I will try to alter my sleeping position.  And if it takes awhile it just does :)  at least the rest if the head is looking great! My roots are starting to dreadup this week.

I just need to slow down and enjoy every part of the ride

Will this hair ever dread? Feeling frustrated

Dreadlocks Journey Emotional Support

Yeah I hear you on the whole 2 months being early.  I guess I was just surprised that that section wasn't moving at the same speed as my others.  It's always been my trouble section of my hair... won't stay curled, more oily and soft, that kind of thing.

More than anything I think I want reassurances that it will do something or that others had the same issue.  Looks like I have my answer.
