separation when you have mature dreadlocks

Dread Maintenance

Hi. I made my dreadlocks buy crochet because I had no idea that I could make them naturally. Now since I know that, I let them be natural for 6,5 months. They look and feel really natural. I aslo need to separate often and it sometimes hurt a lot. What I was wondering is if, when my dreadlocks are gonna be mature, I will need to separe less than presently? THx!

Dreadlocks at school??

Life Issues Facing Dreads

I was at a college stricted like that...I think the best way is to be able to get out of it...talk with your parents maybe.

If your really motivated to get them, you could actulally get your dreads, and if they tell you to remove it, you just say no and don,t remove them... they wont comb your own hair...and in they try run hahaha. If if you get banned maybe your next school is gonna be cooler. OK thay may seems a little bit extreme, but thats probaby wha i would have done. I can't live when there too many stupid rules. So if you are like me.

would you cut your dreads for a million dollars? (very serious and real question)

General Talk

Money is only a tool. it can be as positive for you and the earth than destructive. When use as an ego tool, it can be the most destructive thing. It doesn't bring hapiness as we may think but only inatisfaction. But money can also bring a lot of positive in our world when use in the right way. With money we can make hundreds and hundreds or persons to work on making the world a place more equal. By exemple, by giving in good orgnanism or by foouding compagny that help people in need.

I cut my dreadlocks for a million dollars, even if I had your dreads SE. With 1 million dollar you can help so much the planet. I would had given almost everything to fight the injustice. Dreadlock are still hair, I would prefer to loose my hair and help to planet than keeping it and do nothing to help the others.

But if the million dollars would me my conservative parents that want to shave my dreadlocks because they don't like it...Fuck off! That's really clear for me. If I would have conservative parents that stay in their little false idea and everything, I think I wouldn't talk to them.

Naturally occurring dreadlocks a concept difficult to grasp

General Talk

Exaclty! You said it perfeclty. If I would have known that I just need to stop combing I would have never crochet them...

No offense taken, C21dread. :) The way I see it, you are lucky to have made the journey totally ignorant of wax, crochet, loctitians etc etc. When I first got interested in getting dreadlocks a couple of years ago, all I found on the internet was ads for DHHQ and loctitians. What they said about 'neglect dreadlocks' was all negative. So I don't get heavy on people who ever used wax, crochet or whatever, because I know how much misinformation and commercialization there is out there. I just do my best to discourage it. The best advertisement for the natural way is stunning dreadlocks. Over to you two!

I still found that surprising, magical, that when the hair are uncombred, they ''stick'' together to form dreadlock. Nothing in the hair hold the the dreadlock together, but with time it is stronger an stronger. Don't you found that special?
