Advice please - are my dreads forming too thick?

General Questions

If you have new dreads that do have an inch thick base how much thicker will they become when they are mature?

Talk me down man

Thank you again for the help man your great :) I have another question for you though. I recently heard that you can sew your loose hairs into the closest dread to help encourage the loose hairs to stay in the lock. But that just sounds like a less invasive way of crocheting. Is this a practice that should be avoided at all costs also or if I do it just once will it be ok?

Talk me down man

Ok so here it is my fifth month and my hair is coming along just fine I think lol. The craziness doesn't bother me usually but now I have this thing coming up where I'm going to be meeting a lot of new people and family that I've never met before. Needless to say I'm currently kinda freaked out about it man. Is there a way to encourage my loose hair to get sucked into its nearest dread? I have, I believe three months from now until then, so I know things with my hair will have changed by then. I'll be close to or just entering into my 8th month of having dreads. I'm just looking for a way if there is one to make them look just a little bit neater. My dreads are pretty short too, like just barely long enough to tie back so if there isn't anything then maybe I'll just keep them tied back if need be. Any help or insight any of you have is much appreciated. While half of my head is telling me I still have three months of progress to go before I start to trip out my other side of my head is telling me yeah but look at you now, what if not much changes and you go out there looking like something someone found under their couch??

What up man? You'll still have your curly hair for a while I think if not for always. I'm Puerto Rican and Portuguese and my loose hair is very curly like ringletts from scalp to ends. I'm 4 months in right now and my tree roots are coming along pretty fast, probably because I had curly hair to begin with. My ends are loose instead of blunted and I want to keep them that way because of the way they curl. I say go for it and don't worry about it, your curls won't go anywhere.

Help! Save My Dreads

How do you use aloe on your dreads? Do you put it on your dreads only or your scalp too? And do you leave it in or wash it out?

Whats it like being a dready parent?

Dreads in the Family

I count myself very very blessed to have my little family. My wife supports me no matter what I choose to do including locking up my hair. My daughter, when she was little didn't like the idea of letting my hair dread but now that she's older and I've been growing my roots for a few months now she's chill with it! She says they remind her of Tarzan and she's mad quick to jump to my rescue if anyone has anything negative to say. I love my Bears :)

18 dreads?

General Questions

Well damn, reading this kinda makes me worry man, I'm four months in and other than some loose hair around my face and a patch at the very back of my head my hair is already formed and I only have 18. I started mine as twists but then they fell apart and re formed themselves. I have three of them that are congos but they are super attached. So the thought of separating them doesn't sound good. I just figured any new growth I'd get would sort it out and eventually I'd get more. One of my congos grew super weird though man like the section is a rectangle. Should I worry or just keep it going?
