DLS vs VitalGoods

Dread Products

So ive been dreaded for just over a year now. Ive always used the bars and liquid from DLS. They were always highly recommended and the products smell amazing. However, no matter which kind I used I wouldnt get any dandruff relief. I tried all the products(expecially the ones recommended for danruff such as tea tree, rosemary, mint, etc), and combinations of them. I would use just the bars, or just the liquid or switch between the two every other washing and nothing helped. I never experienced any residue although I have seen some people complain about that issue with these products.

Recently I switched over to VitalGood who ive also always seen highly recommened, especially for people with dandruff. Tonight I used VG liquid for the first time and im not really sure what to think...especially compared to DLS. Its kind of watery, and I ordered the nag chompa scent but the shampoo actually stinks a little and I dont smell even a hint of nag chompa in the bottle. Thats really disappointing since im so used to the awesome smells of DLS.

Has anyone else used these two products and what did you think of them? Was dandruff an issue with you too and which shampoo helped it the most. Is a bottle of VG typically watery and not very scented? Any info would be appreciated.

Sham Wow Towels

General Questions

Ive only wraped my dreads with the towel, never rub them with it. However, ive crochet them a few times so im sure thats what the frizziness comes from so ive given that up.  They look better after a crochet session but that only lasts for about a month. Its too short lived to be worth it. Ive got a good core going in all my dreads so ill let the frizzies lock on their own with time. Now I have the sham wow trick to try too and hopefully thatll help the process along.

Sham Wow Towels

General Questions

Im glad to have come across this. My dreads are about 8mo old and pretty frizzy and ive always felt my towel had to share some of the blame for the frizziness. I actually have a new shamwow sitting around so im totally gonna try to use it on my dreads my next washing and see if theres a decline in the frizz.

Congos and Dandruff

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

Hello,

Im in the begining of my journey, almost two months in. I started my dreads via backcomb method and going natural from there on. I did a lot of research before I started and im still learning lots. I did have some questions though. Is it normal for my whole head to congo at the roots every wash? I wash twice a week with nothing but the liquid dread shampoo from dreadlockshampoo.com, and rinse with cold water afterwards. I know separating after every wash just comes with the territory but its like my whole head is one big congo at the roots after every single wash and the separating part is painful and pretty time consuming. Is this something that will lessen with time as they mature?

I also have a huge issue with dandruff. Ive been told dandruff typically becomes an issue with baby dreads as the scalp is adjusting and irritated but its something I had way before the dreads. Its a battle ive fought off and on for several years, it used to come and go but now it seems its here to stay. Ive tried all sorts of things. Dandruff specific shampoos(head and shoulders, selsin blue, etc) Shampoos with essential oils(currently using the rosemary and tea tree oil liquid shampoo from dreadlockshampoo.com), bs/acv rinses, rotating shampoo cycles, washing more and less often...but nothing seems to work or I might get some MILD relief for a week or two before the issue comes back full force. The issue has even traveled to the inside of my ears, my eyebrows, nose, and my goatee. Any other tips/tricks/advice would be greatly appreciated!
