Dazed and Confused Blues

Dready love

I think everyone has given wonderful advice. The only thing I can add is that in life we truly never know for sure what will happen next. We also don't really know what is going on in anyone else's head but our own. That makes it really challenging to make future decisions when we don't have absolute information. I know though that decisions made when I am feeling calm are frequently the best and the decisions based on love, not fear take me to the happiest places. In my relationship with my husband things go up and down. We grow and mature and different rates and we have had to play catch up with each other over the years. We started dating when we were 21 (me) and 22. We are still together 13 years later, its been incredibly hard and incredibly beautiful.

Homeschool/unschool folks?

dready interests

I love child led learning! I think it is the best way to help children understand who they are and what their interests are at an early age. I also love that I choose how my kids are socialized instead of that being up to whatever dynamic/ecosystem is available in the particular school environment. I unschool my 7 year old and I unschooled my 15 year old up until 8th grade. He is at a Montessori high school now, which I consider a wonderful environment.

loops lumps kinks and zig zags in dreadlocks

Dread Maintenance

I have had my dreadlocks for a little over two months. So far my most mature dreads are zigzags. The hair in that section lost about half its length and tripled in width. I am super excited to have actual real dreads in my hair, and I think the zigzag looks interesting. However, I am not happy with the lost length (I just love long hair) and my hair is ridiculously thick and if all of my hair decides to make these huge zigzags, I don't know how I will be able to tie it back (a necessity when the weather is 100 degrees plus here in Southern California.)

That being said, I would rather not mess with it. I'm going to let it do what it does, I just hope I like it in the end.
