Finally got some knotty ropes :-)

Introduce Yourself

You are probably right friend. Plus it's pretty hard to keep my hair from dreading (I have to separate hair everyday); if it wants to do it..who am i to fight fate? :-)

I bet you end up with a head full and not just 3. Dreads are addictive.

Found acongoforming on my lower dread today..spent the last 2 hours skillfully partingit, and got a third dread out of it :D. Decided to tie my hair back and post some pix of the ones that are forming.

Probably going to leave it at 3; possibly another. I prefer having a mix of dreads and regular hair...but we'll see.

Found a dread..want to clean it up

Introduce Yourself

I found a dread a couple of days ago in my hair and I would like to know how to 'tighten' it up at the roots so that I can make the entire dread uniform and aesthetic. What can I do?

I'm not trying to dread my hair (I condition and brush multiple times a week), it just kind of happened. I'd like to use some sort of leather wrap+a hair charm to decorate it too, so any information I can use to get this loc prepped for that would be much appreciated..

Fanks

my turn to twist up

Introduce Yourself

as far as twisting goes. my hair is incredibly textured. it is very coarse and thick(except my temples), much so more than a lot of 'caucasian' hair on people that i've seen. i have also twisted up before, but took it out because i was in a controlled environment where i couldn't take care of my hair properly due to lack of availability of certain things(like baking soda, etc). but aside from that, twisting up is just a term used to desribe dreads in general where i live. twist and neglect will be the way i form them, just like i did last time. i took another picture only 2* hours after brushing(hadn't laid down or slept yet, either--the pic in the OP is right after i brushed my hair vigorously). my hair sections up and curls on itself immediately as soon as you stop manipulating it, so i think twisting will allow me to control my sections better. i really do not dig the congo look, i do not want it to happen to me =O
