Bummed out...thinning out in center/end of dreadlocks

Help! Save My Dreads

Let me know how that works out for you Soaring Eagle. I have started conditioning my ends with jojoba oil.

Bummed out...thinning out in center/end of dreadlocks

Help! Save My Dreads

My dreads are all natural, free-form dreadlocks, 5 years old. I'm bummed out because one of my locs is thinning out towards the bottom. The end is thick, and the roots are thick, but I've got about a four inch section that is really thin. I know the end will eventually fall off. Is this common? I am thinking that the cause is from using the dread to tie up other dreads. The root is behind my ear by the base if my scull. It has been a go to for tiring up other locs. I'm just wondering if others have had this problem.

ends of dreads..

Dread Maintenance

My ends blunted themselves. Somehow the dreads just pull the loose hairs in. It will happen with time. My dreads are all free form, natural/"neglect" locs. I remember thinking I'd have loose ends forever, but they took care of themselves. I want to say it was around 2 & 1/2 years that the ends were all mostly blunt. I've been locking for 3 & 1/2 years.

Dread Maintenance

They will lock up, don't you worry. Just give them time and have patience. My ends were loose at 1 & 1/2 years too. They are all mostly blunt now. Just enjoy they stage you're in now. Remember it's a journey. Sometimes I miss my loose ends. I'd have fun with them and use a curling iron to make really pretty ringlets when I still had them. I can't do that anymore cause they are all blunted. But it was fun at the time. Good luck and enjoy your journey.
