Dreads and wigs?

Dreadlock Styles and Dread Styling

Yeah. Most of mine are sorta thick, I was thinking a swim cap over them could compress them enough to where the wig would work. I'm not so sure though.

Dreads and wigs?

Dreadlock Styles and Dread Styling

I bought a really cute wig to wear for Halloween. It's a real wig and not the cheap ones you usually can get around Halloween, I have a wig cap and everything, BUT, once I get everything on the volume of my dreads make my head look kinda big and it's sooo difficult to even get all my dreads into the wig cap. The only tutorials I can find for this kind of thing is to braid your dreads into cornrows and I don know anyone that can help me with that. Does anyone else on here sometimes wear a wig over their dreads? How would you do it?

Ahh!! Congos!

Dread Maintenance

I'll try that. The ones I'm trying to Congo are super super tiny, the sections at the root are about 1/8in probably less, its only in a few areas. I feel like it might be easier to merge them while they're still knotting up and wanting to eat each other. Lol. I'm pretty much just letting them do whatever right now though. But there isn't any better way other than super careful snipping?=[

Ahh!! Congos!

Dread Maintenance

I've got a lot of sections that are pretty thin, I over separated, and am trying to encourage congos in some sections with beads and peyote stitch sleeves, but in my efforts to let a lot of sections Congo, I ended up with one weird one I'm worrying about, the section at the root is like 2 inches! I love fatties and all, but I'm fearing drying issues in this one. What's weird though is that only like half of one of the dreads was eaten by the other a few inches from the root all the way down, making kind of like a "W" shape if that makes any sense, I'd post a pic but I'm having some issues with that. Anyways, I cannot pull these two apart, no matter how hard I try. I feel like I could just cut it and it would be fine, but honestly I really don't want to cut them. I've even tried using coconut oil to soften and loosen them up and it still won't budge. Does anyone have any alternative ideas? Just how bad would cutting it be? The bit holding them together is a good 1/4inch piece just a few inches from my scalp=\

2ish Month dread update!

Member Journals and Timelines

Thanks! They're really knotting up fast. I'm so excited to watch my daughter grow and change alongside my dreads. It was a perfect time to start them.

2ish Month dread update!

Member Journals and Timelines

Here's my two month, maybe almost 3 month old dreads. I don't really remember what day exactly I stopped brushing. Wishing I would've marked the last time I brushed on a calendar or something so I'd have a dreadversary to go by, but oh well, it happens. I'm not really as active on here as I should be, I just check the activity feed when I can, I've been quite busy with the new baby, Zalia Jayde=] But anyways, I think I've made some really good progress with my dreadie babies and wanted to share with everyone! There's several TnR dreads in the front, but the rest is all natural free form.

TnRs starting to twist at the roots??

General Questions

Great, I'll just ignore it then. I just know that twisting generally isn't a good thing if forced especially with Caucasian hair and thought it was kinda strange that they did that on their own.

TnRs starting to twist at the roots??

General Questions

It's definitely twisting. Prominent spirals at the roots of a couple of them. I can turn them around and the root is straight and when I let it go it just twists back up. I only did that a couple times though to confirm what I thought was going on. Noticed it when I was separating after a wash last night. I wish it were looping. Lol. I had a friend help and not sure if it was him or I that did the ones that are doing this so it may just be from a weird angle, but do you think they'll straighten and sort themselves out, or if beads could help?
