Dread update - 6 months:)

Dready love

Try showering in the afternoon when you get off so you don't have to put them up too soon after their wet and you won't go to sleep with them wet either.

Does Baking Soda actually damages hair?

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

To clarify, I wash with BS OR dr. Bronners, not both at the same time. And of the two I much prefer the bs/ACV route.

Does Baking Soda actually damages hair?

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

I read and feared the same things which is why I used honey shampoo for a while but now I mostly use bs with dr bronners every once and a while. I dilute it a whole lot (probably twice the water recommend) and my hair feels clean stil. Even with my bleach damaged ends my hair feels much better when i do this and my hair doesn't begin to look nor feel oily until the 3rd or 4th day. I work as a waitress in Tennessee (so it's really humid and hot) I sweat a lotI like to add teetrea oil to my wash because it cools my scalp and makes my hair smell good. Do what feels right to you though. There's plenty of options. Everybody's body is different.

Help! Save My Dreads

Find a color remover (NOT COLOR STRIPPER) the one n' only color fix or something similar are often easily found at sally's beauty supply and is non damagingafter I'd wash with hot water and baking soda(soak if you can) then do a honey shampoo of 1 part honey and 3 parts water to further fade and add some moisture. You can use the color remover up to 3 times and after that point it won't do anything more.Wash your hair in hot to warm water because color hates that

twisting up dha hair

Introduce Yourself

Thank you Brandi. I thought the exact same thing and to add, If you don't want the advice on how to get healthy dreads then go to a site that recommend terrible treatments on how to get the manufactured look you want.

Just another reason to wash

Dread Maintenance

This is great. I wish the rest of the untangled world could read this and let it sink in. I justed schooled a coworker on how necessary cleanliness is for dreading.

What do your parents/friends think of your locks?

General Talk

My mother (aka my family) isn't very conservative but my amazing partners family is. They're classic southern and have adapted to me pretty well considering they haven't had to come in such close contact with someone like me before. I realize this is different but I think a large dose of confidence is really essential to dealing with the public at anytime that you might stick out. I have never been good at noticing what people think of me. I'm me and no matter how I've tried to fit in, in the past, I've never been very good at it. I'm great at being me. It's all i can do. People have many things to say about me, but I know who I am and it there's no feeling better than being in your own skin once you're comfortable being there

Seven months into twist and rip/back comb and my hair looks like a mop head and not at all like dreads..

Dread Maintenance

Oops! My bad on the percentage. I haven't used the good stuff from the dreadlockshampoo.com yet but when I've done the soaks is usually soak for 20 or 30 minutes and them rinse my hair for a minute then carry on with my hair washing routine
